Emma Watson adopts kittens from animal shelter

Many may not know it but actress Emma Watson, star of the hit movie "Beauty and the Beast," is a huge fan of animals.

"Oh my God! I want them all," said Watson, when asked how many kittens she would love to have, in a video clip uploaded by Best Friends Animal Society on Instragram recently. The video clip showed her playing with white kittens.

"My day is complete," said Watson at the end of video clip which is also posted on her IG

Best Friends is nationwide animal rescue and advocacy organization, with spay neuter, TNR (trap neuter return), pet adoption and no-kill programs. Its headquarters is located in Utah in the US.

Netizens were impressed at Watson's soft heart for animals.

"Why don't more celebs do this???? This means the world to some of us," said one of her followers on social media.

"As if we need one more reason to like and admire @emmawatson," another follower commented.

The 26-year-old British actress currently stars in the live-action fairy tale "Beauty and the Beast" which already grossed more than $170 million in the US and $350 million globally.

The Hollywood Reporter (THR) said that the Walt Disney movie is now one of the top 10 openings of all time and the biggest ever for a Parental Guidance title, both in the US and overseas.

"@beautyandthebeast opens today! I hope you have as much fun watching it as I did making it. Love Emma," said Watson prior to the opening of her latest movie.




THR said that Watson was paid $3 million for playing the role of Belle in "Beauty" but her final haul could escalate to $15 million.

"Sources say Emma Watson is pulling in $3 million upfront to play Beauty's book-smart protagonist Belle. But her final payday will escalate to $15 million if the film's final haul is similar to Maleficent's $759 million worldwide gross, as is expected," the report said.

Watson rose to prominence when she starred in the Harry Potter series where she played the role of Hermione Granger.

When the film series wrapped up, Watson later appeared on television and other movies. In between she went to school.

Watson graduated at Brown University where she took up English Literature in 2014. On the same year, she was appointed UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and advocates gender equality. - Robert R. Requintina/TEMPO
