Int'l pageant for married women vs bullying launched

An international beauty pageant for married women called Mrs. International World 2017 which campaigns against bullying was launched in the country yesterday.

Dr. Riza Caldoza, who was appointed Mrs. International World 2017 Ambassador, said that the Mrs. International World is not an ordinary pageant.

"The organizers believed that all married women should be recognized for their beauty and their ability to integrate on what they can contribute to the community. There will be no discrimination as far as age, racial education and physical beauty are concerned," said Caldoza, during the pageant's launch in Quezon City.

Caldoza is also a dermatologist who owns the Vanity Skin Aesthetics Dermatology Clinic.

She added: "Mrs. International World will play a role in portraying a model and guide for women who thrust for success in work and life.  It is a platform for inspirational women to speak for those that might not be heard. It aims to gather women from across the globe who are goal driven, articulate, charismatic and who wish to stand up and make a difference in their homes, communities and respective countries. That is the reason behind the pageant’s advocacy, 'Be B.R.A.V.E. Building respect and Value for Everyone and Lets put an end to bullying,' " she said.

The Mrs. International World 2017 contest, which kicked off in Malaysia last February, was organized by the MIW Organizing Team that consists of Dato Timothy Gan, Datin Sharon Too, Jonathan Gan, and Mrs. June Yap.

Ovette Ricalde, national director of the Mrs. International World 2017 contest, said that pageant directors will send their Top 3 winners to compete at the world finals in Malaysia later this year.

So far, there are already seven confirmed countries that will be hosting and organizing Mrs International World 2017. They are China, Macau, Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, Malaysia, Borneo and Vietnam.

Ricalde said that the pageant will have two categories - Mrs. International World Category – between 25 – 40 years of age; and Classic Mrs. Category – 41 years of age and above. - Robert Requintina/TEMPO
