Kylie-Maxine rivalry? Pia, Jonas react

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach played referee to hot-tempered fans of reigning Miss International Kylie Verzosa and Miss Universe 2016 semi-finalist Maxine Medina who pitted the two Filipino beauty queens against each other.

"Sa totoong buhay magkasundo si Kylie at si Maxine. Mga fans lang ang gumagawa mg rivalry. Maxine has a lot of work lined up for her and also Kylie. In the end these are women who have paid their dues. They've proven themselves," said Wurtzbach as she reacted to the posts of overzealous followers of Maxine and Kylie on the Instagram account of their mentor Jonas Gaffud.

"Tapos na ang binibini at tapos na international pageants nila. They should be enjoying the benefits of their hard work. Kylie is doing so well and so is Maxine;"

"Fans should know when to move on. Tapos na. Magfocus na sa mga bagong binibini o maging proud nalang na may representative parin tayo kung yung ibang countries nga wala at di pa consistent. Its so sad to see that the same fans who are supposed to be supporting our girls are pulling them down or worse pitching them towards each other as competition;"

"The same way why Maxine was so pressured at Miss Universe. Galing na sakin ito ha. Sorry but it's because of this mentality. Toxic na. The girls are trying to live their lives na. And Mama J's trying to lift them up equally like what he's doing with me. Mag ddoubt pa ba kayo? Kung sya nga pinagkatiwalaan ng MUO instead of BPCI or Madam Stella (Marquez);"

"Sya pinagtawilaan ng MUO AT IMG to spearhead the pageant here. Career ng girls i-d-doubt nyo pa? Dahil sa Isang instagram post? Konting respeto naman. At oo pumapatol ako. Oo affected ako. Kasi mahal ko yung tao e;"

"Mama J discovered me. He believed in me and saw my potential in a time where I didnt think I could even be a candidate in Binibini. But look at what happened? Kaya naman nya di ba?"

"Stop attacking him if you feel that the girls you are supporting are not getting enough publicity. Hindi ganon yun. Social media is not a judge," Wurtzbach said.

It all started when Gaffud, trainer of the three beauty queens, posted a magazine cover of Verzosa on his IG.

"Maghintay kayo! Nagse-set pa lang kami ng meeting. Why do you make it a rivalry between Kylie and Maxine? Kayo ang unfair!”

“Kung maka-message kayo akala niyo wala nang ginagawa! ‘Di ba under contract si Maxine sa BPCI (Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc.)? Mag-isip!” said Gaffud, head of Aces and Queens beauty camp, in response to overzealous fans.

Gaffud added: "Why can’t you wait kasi? I’m doing meetings for Maxine tapos ganyan kayo? Why can’t I post about Kylie?”
“I have three movies for Maxine. Pero kino-convince ko pa siya kasi nahihiya siya. So every time I need to post about Kylie, I also have to post about Maxine? I love both Kylie and Maxine. Hope people would understand if I post about someone. I don’t post all about talents every day," said the pageant guru. - Robert Requintina
