Sarah G. not interested in 'Darna' project

Singer-actress Sarah Geronimo has said that she does see herself playing "Darna" because she does not have the body and curves of the iconic comics heroine.

"Wala akong boobs, anong magagawa natin?" said Geronimo, during an interview on "Tonight With Boy Abunda" on ABS-CBN.

"Baka naman na-negative-an sila sa akin nung sinabi ko na, 'Eh, 'di wow! Gusto niyo ba makakita ng Darna na naka-jumpsuit?' Kasi matagal ko na po iyang sinasabi na hindi talaga iyon para sa akin kasi iconic iyong role," said Geronimo.


But she thanked her fans for considering her to play the female heroine after actress Angel Locsin decided to back out of the project for good due to health reasons.



So far, no one has been chosen to play Darna in the latest film to be directed by Erik Matti. Other names being flaunted for the role include Pia Wurtzbach, Nadine Samonte, Jessy Mendiola, Yassi Pressman, etc.


"But more than that, ang daming responsibilities na nakaakibat sa pagiging Darna. So medyo naka-focus lang din ng unti na ang inaabangan iyong naka-two piece, iyong physique. Parang hindi talaga po para sa akin. Pero nagpapasalamat naman ako at flattered naman ako na may mga kino-consider ako," she said.

Geronimo is back as one of the mentors for "The Voice: Teen" on ABS-CBN.

Asked how she felt joining again the mentors table with Lea Salonga, Sharon Cuneta, and Bamboo, Geronimo said: "Halu-halong emosyon. Masaya na finally I'm back. Hindi ko masasabi na lahat ng season nandito po ako pero I'm doing this for the asipring singers na talented."


"Very challenging pa rin po ito sa akin kasi hindi talaga ako sanay na magbenta ng sarili ko. Hindi ako magaling magsalita so parang challenge na rin sya sa akin at saka para na ring training ground na rin sa akin yan para masanay na akong magsalita. Maging outspoken," the singer-actress said.

Geronimo also said that she saw herself in contestants of the reality singing competition when she was just starting.

"Pero ang nakakatuwa sa mga teenagers ngayon kasi may halong fun sa kanila hindi competition mode. Nung lumalaban kami ang mga piyesa namin birit," she recalled. - Robert Requintina/TEMPO
