Sunshine Cruz says her kids close to BF Macky Mathay

Actress Sunshine Cruz has said that her three daughters are very close to her boyfriend Ismael "Macky" Mathay IV who she said even prepares breakfast or dinner for them.

"They are very close with Macky. Pag-weekend minsan si Macky pa nagluluto ng mga breakfast ng mga kids, ng dinner namin, ganun ang nangyayari. And also, yung mga kids naman ni Macky are very close also to my children. I couldn't ask for more," said Cruz, during an interview on "Tonight With Boy Abunda" on ABS-CBN recently.

In October 2016, Mathay confirmed his romance with Cruz.

Mathay, half-brother of actress Ara Mina, is reportedly separated from his wife Camille Farinas, who currently serves as chief of staff of her father Ilocos Norte Representative Rudy Farinas.

Cruz, 38, who is currently seen in the teleserye "Wildflower" on the Kapamilya network, also said that she always gives advice to her daughters about boy-girl relationship.

"Kung nag-uusap kami, nagwo-work naman sa amin 'yung para lang magbabarkada. Pero of course, kung kailangan mo ako pakinggan at irespeto, andun at nakikinig sila sa akin. I think yung parang pagiging barkada namin na naguusap, very open to each other," she added.

"Pareho kay Angelina, may mga nagpapadala na ng chocolates sa school, flowers. I would tell her binigay sa'yo 'yan, mag-thank you ka. Pero pagnagbigay uli, you have to make it clear na hindi mo sya pinapa-asa at hindi ka nagpapaligaw," Cruz said.

The actress also said that her daughters prioritize their studies these days.

"Lagi naman sinasabi ni Angelina she knows her priorities. They are all honor students sa La Salle. So alam nila na studies ang kanilang priority," Cruz said.

Angelina Isabelle, daughter of Cruz and actor Cesar Montano, now chief operating officer of the Tourism Promotions Board, is also joining show business as a recording artist for Universal Records.

But Cruz said that she and her daughter have a written agreement that her music career should not affect her studies.

"Meron kaming written agreement na mag-ina. Nagpirmahan kami at ipapa laminate at ipapa-frame ko ang aming kontrata. Ang usapan namin na kapag ang iyong pag-aaral ay naapektuhan, goodbye (showbiz)," the actress said.

Cruz also said that her daughter will carry the surname Cruz, not Montano, for screen name.

"I discussed it with Arnold Vegafria. Kasi mag-uumpisa na po ang aking anak bilang singer hindi po artista. And we all know that Donna is not a Cruz before. Even Rodjun and Rayver are not Cruz. They are an Ilustre. Ginamit nila ang Cruz because Cruzes are known to be musicians. So I think it would be an advantage for Angelina to use Cruz," the actress said.

Montano was married to Cruz from 2000 to 2013. Later, Cruz filed for annulment of her marriage to Montano. The annulment was granted in August 2013.
