Manila youth leader named NAITAS Face of Tourism 2017

Finally, a beauty pageant crown for Sarah Margarette Faurillo of Manila!

On April 9, Faurillo was crowned NAITAS Face of Tourism 2017 during the NAITAS Trade and Travel Show held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Faurillo, a youth leader in Manila, bested 14 other candidates in the tourism-driven beauty contest. She will later represent the country in the Miss City Tourism contest in China in September.

Many may not know it but it was the fourth attempt for Faurillo to compete in a national beauty contest.

Faurillo was a semifinalist in prestigious pageants such as Miss Manila, Miss Republic of the Philippines and Miss World Philippines.

Francis Calubaquib, one of the pageant trainers of Faurillo, said that Faurillo even made the Top 55 of the Binibining Pilipinas 2017 beauty contest.

"Noong nawala yung mother n'ya, nangako kaming mga friends n'ya sa wake ng mother n'ya na hindi kami hihinto hangga't wala s'yang (Sarah) korona. Dito na pala sa NAITAS Face of Tourism 2017 pageant sya magwawagi," said Calubaquib, who is also trainer of the country's first Miss Supranational Mutya Johanna Datul.

Faurillo, 23, also won special awards for Miss Hannah's Face of Tourism and Photographer's Choice.

First-runner up honors went to Alyssa Joreen Reyes of Lemery, Batangas while Glayzelle Ramos from Rosario, Batangas was second runner-up

Roanne Refrea, over-all chairman of the National Association of Independent Travel Agencies of the Philippines (NAITAS) Face of Tourism 2017 Pageant, cited the role of the pageant in promoting tourism.

"The fact that they will become the ambassadress of NAITAS Face of Tourism, it will help a lot because they will be the voice of the Philippines," Refrea said.
