PH to host Mister & Miss Culture World 2017

Over 30 international candidates will be arriving in Manila from May 17-26, 2017 as the Philippines will play host for the third edition of Mister and Miss Culture World international pageant.

Founded in 2014 by Saidali Abdilla Jr., the pageant aims to promote culture and its preservation in a global stage.

The first and second editions of the contest were both held in Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, Malaysia. The Philippine venue for the finals night will be announced later.

Previous winners for 2015 are Arnepha Abdusalam of the Philippines as Miss Culture World and Mashoor Awang of Malaysia as Mister Culture World.

Reigning winners are Bob Royo of the Philippines as Mister Culture World 2016 and Hnin Wutyee Win of Myanmar as Miss Culture Wold 2016.

"What makes our pageant unique is that more tan our candidates physical attributes, we give importance to their personality and advocacies," said Abdilla, chairman of MMCWI during press launch held at ICON Hotel in Timog, Quezon City.

Royo said: "My year as Mister Culture World 2016 has been fulfilling and inspiring. I am very proud and happy that I was able to show the world the best Filipino culture by means of helping people in need."

He said that he was able to link his newly formed foundation dubbed "The Panulat Pangarap Foundation" to Mister and Miss Culture World, Inc.

"I was able to give to elementary and high school students without new school supplies for the incoming school," Royo said.

There will be four representatives from the host country this year. They are Al-Hakam Reggie Dimalanas, representing the Philippines in Mister Culture World; and Al Mario Lara, who is representing South Central Mindanao; Rizza Paula Infante, representing the Philippines, Miss Culture World; and Hioney Leth Ventura, of Central Luzon. - ROBERT R.
