Celine Dion to perform 'Titanic' theme song for film's 20th year

"Titanic," the second-highest grossing movie of all time, will celebrate its 20th year in style as Canadian chanteuse Celine Dion will perform once again the movie's theme song "My Heart Will Go On" at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards on May 21.

"This song means a lot to me, and it has played such a huge role in my career. It's a great honor to have the opportunity to perform it on the Billboard Music Awards' international stage, in celebration of the film's 20 anniversary," said Dion in a statement.

It's been 20 years since the love story of Jack (Leonardo Di Caprio) and Rose (Kate Winslet) touched the hearts of moviegoers in the film that won 11 Oscars, including Best Picture.

"I'm so grateful to the late James Horner, and to Will Jennings, for writing it and creating the opportunity for me to be part of Titanic, an amazing film whose legacy will continue for generations to come," Dion added.

Dion recorded the haunting love song on May 22, 1997 while the hit movie was released on December 19, 1997. The film has grossed U$2.187 billion.

"My Heart Will Go On" reached No. 1 in the US charts and other countries when it was released in 1997.

At the 1999 Grammy Awards show, the song won Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Female Vocal Performance and Best Song Specifically Written for a Movie or Television.

Its "Titanic" soundtrack, the fifth-highest grossing film of all time, peaked at No. 1 in Billboard 200 chart. Later it was awarded Soundtrack Album of the Year at the 1998 Billboard Music Awards. - ROBERT REQUINTINA
