Shirleena Espinoza wins Princess of the World tilt

A 10-year-old girl from Olongapo City became another pride of the Philippines when she won grand prize in the Princess of the World contest held in Bulgaria recently.

Shirleena Joice Espinoza, a lone delegate from the Philippines, bested more than 50 delegates from around the world.

Espinoza, 5th grader at the Cabalan Christian School in Olongapo, also bagged two gold medals in the preliminaries --- modeling and vocal competition. She was also named most elegant delegate.

At the talent competition where she sang, Espinoza received a standing ovation from the judges.

An early favorite in the international competition, Espinoza was previously 2nd runner-up in Little Princess Philippines 2016, a pageant for teens and kids organized by Glamore Productions, Inc. headed by Ma. Angela Aris and Mrs. Asia Pacific 2016 Kristine Diane Nagasaka.

Shirleena is the youngest of the two children of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie and Salve Espinoza.

Asked what she likes to be when she grows up, Shirleena said that she wanted to become a teacher or a singer. She also loves to swim and draw.

"Gusto ko pong magturo sa mga batang mahihirap," said Shirleena, during her victory press conference held in Cubao, Quezon City. (I want to teach the poor children). - ROBERT REQUINTINA
