Those talented Rotarians of District 3800

No serious pageant stuff. Just a showcase of talent by some members of Rotary Club District 3800 who were having fun during the pre-pageant of the inaugural King and Queen of Humanity which will be held at the Manila Hotel on February 17.

A brainchild of Governor lady lawyer Nancy D. Quimpo, the event called "The Great Charity Ball" will raise funds for the projects of District 3800 which is composed of the district's various clubs in Valenzuela, Malabon, Caloocan, Navotas, Marikina, Rizal, Mandaluyong and San Juan.

Among these projects are The Great Love for Little Hearts, that will help shoulder the expenses of poor children who need at the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City; Ladies In Pink Society; and the Haven for Women of Caloocan, which will assist battered, emotional, and psychological abused women thru free legal service, professional counselling; and livelihood programs.

Also at the forefront of this project is Hemilyn Escudero Tamayo, current head of the Mutya ng Pilipinas, and head of the Rotary Club Mandaluyong Chaper.

Tamayo said that the contestants for the pageant are current members and officers, and past members of Rotary Club District 3800, and spouses of Rotarians.

Criteria for judging are funds raised, 60 percent; 10 percent, intelligence; 10 percent, projection, poise and X-Factor; 10 percent, beauty and personality; and 10 percent, committee vote.

Quimpo said that the Rotary Club hopes sustain the pageant in the coming years to help the needy.
