% Arabica Coffee opens in Bonifacio Global City

There's a new cafe' in town where coffee lovers can truly enjoy Arabica.

"It's called '% Arabica' and we soft opened just last January 12. It's timeless coffee. And you can see in our menu it's very simple and very classic. The atmosphere is very zen," said Allue Krisanne A. Hortaleza, owner, during an interview at the coffee shop located at Manila W City Center, Unit 1, Ground floor, 7th Avenue corner 30th Street, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.

When we dropped by the coffee shop, customers lined up to order their favorite coffee and pastries. For now, bread and cookies are limited but the cafe' will add new products soon.

Allue was not surprised at all when Arabica Philippines coffee shop was a blockbuster during its soft opening.

"It's really crowded. That's why we have two machines! If you're a real coffee lover, you will love Arabica. All the coffee beans are imported from Brazil, Guatemala, Ethiopia, etc. Soon we will sell local coffee."

Asked what makes their coffee special, Allue said: "We serve our coffee fresh. We roast our own beans and we roast it in our own special way. You always get the freshest and best-tasting coffee."

"We also have good machines to really, really extract the best espresso. That's why its always delicious," she said.

Allue said that her mom Rosalinda helps her in the coffee business. "My mom and I are coffee lovers. My mom would have 20 cups of coffee in one day."

Prior to opening the coffee shop, Allue said that she trained in Japan for one month to make sure that she is equipped with the knowledge on coffee and operations.

"I make sure our staff members are trained well. Other than that, because my family comes from the beauty industry, Hortaleza Beauty Center and Splash Corporation, I also went into training in Kyoto, Japan for one month," Allue added.

Soon there will be more Arabica in the country. But the owners are not in a rush to come up with another branch.

% Arabica has also two international baristas - % Arabica Global Head Barista Junicho Yamaguchi and % Arabica Kyoto Head Barista Shu Konishi.

"This is our first branch. Soon we will have other branches. We are not in a hurry to open other branches just for the sake of having business because the quality might suffer," she said.

"Arabica Philippines" is open at 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on regular days. "But on weekends, we are only open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. I value the baristas, they need to rest." - ROBERT R. REQUINTINA
