Miss Philippines 2018 beauty pageant launched

The 2nd Miss Philippines pageant was launched as it searches for new Filipinas who can be responsible leaders someday.

Miss Philippines Foundation, Inc. President Francisco Z. Blanco Jr. says that the pageant aims to bring together Filipinas across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao while showcasing their innate beauty, culture, talent and intelligence.

Four titles are at stake as the winners of Miss Philippines 2018 will compete in international pageants soon. They are Miss National Universe, Miss Princess of the World-Philippines, Miss Queen and Beauty Universe, and Miss Tourism Queen International-Philippines.

Blanco also says that the national beauty pageant hopes to gather 81 candidates from all the provinces in the country.

"We want someone who has a strong personality. Someone who can be a leader someday," says Blanco, during a press conference held at the Conrad Hotel in Pasay City.

Jun Cortez Fradejas, COO, Miss Philippines, adds: "We are looking for someone who can do the job. Someone who is responsible and who can do her duties."

Blanco says that the Miss Philippines contest will help cancer patients as part of its new advocacy.

"This pageant prides itself one being one of the biggest national beauty pageants that does not only focus on beauty, talent and intelligence but also aims to promote global culture, peace, the arts and tradition," Blanco says. Also at the event were Antique Mayor Jonathan Tan and EMC Corporational Legal Head Atty. Mario Narag.

Organizers say that the official candidates will be presented to the media soon. The grand coronation of the Miss Philippines 2018 pageant will be held at the Resorts World Manila on December 9.

At the same event, the 35 candidates for Mister Philippines 2018 pageant were presented to the press. The finals of the male contest, which promotes healthy lifestyle, will be held on Aug. 11. - ROBERT REQUINTINA
