Ex-sweethearts Robbie Domingo, Gretchen Ho 'reunite'

Former Kapamilya sweethearts television host-actor Robbie Domingo and former athlete-television host Gretchen Ho "reunited" as hosts of this year's Mr and Miss Chinatown beauty pageant held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City September 2.

Fans swooned as Ho held Domingo as they walked the stage of the annual beauty pageant that spearheads the promotion of the unique fusion of the Chinese and Filipino cultures.

The "reunion" of Ho and Domingo nearly upstaged the pageant as the crowd swooned whenever the ex-lovers would exchange ad libs on the stage.

In March 1, 2017, Domingo and Ho finally ended speculations about their relationship when they confirmed their breakup.

Domingo and Ho, who have been in a relationship for three years, announced their split through a joint statement read on "Tonight With Boy Abunda" on ABS-CBN.

The sweethearts who both went to Ateneo De Manila University in college said that their respective careers have affected their relationship.

The full statement:

"There is too much happening for the both of us right now. We have to focus on our careers. There is no appropriate time yet for a relationship to grow. But we're not closing our doors on each other in the future. There's no third party," it said.

Hours prior to the announcement of their split, Ho posted a Biblical message on Instagram.

Rumors about the split swirled in January after netizens noticed that the Domingo and Ho have stopped posting pictures together on Instagram.

There were also reports that Domingo was pursuing Korean pop star Sandara Park, former member of all-girl musical group 2NE1. But Park denied the rumors saying they are just friends.

Domingo, 27, initially revealed his love for Ho in an interview in March 2013.

"Just thinking about her makes me smile for some reason. Being with her is a different kind of feeling. When I'm with her, I become more of myself. Ayaw ko 'yung 'You complete me' na 'yun pero I begin to discover myself more through her," said Domingo in an interview on ABS-CBN.

Both celebrities have said that they would love to settle down soon. They pointed out, however, that career would still be a priority. - ROBERT REQUINTINA
