Liz Mabao off to Malaysia for Miss Scuba International 2019

Miss Philippines Liz Mabao left for Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia Nov. 1 to represent the country in the Miss Scuba International 2019 pageant on Nov. 16. Mabao, 19, of Rizal, will compete against other ocean ambassadors from around the world in the contest that advocates marine conservation and promote safe driving practices. She wants to raise awareness on the negative impact of carbon footprint. Carbon footprint is the amount of pollution a person or a company puts into environment. Mabao was accompanied at the airport by Miss Scuba Philippines CEO and Miss Scuba International 2015 Cindy Pacia Madduma. PH anthropologist finishes 3rd in Miss Scuba Int'l pageant

Filipino beauty queens continue to shine abroad as a forensic anthropologist won second runner-up in the Miss Scuba International 2018 pageant held in Sabah, Malaysia last Nov. 17. Noelle Fuentes-Uy Tuazon, 26, of Tangalan, Aklan, finished third in the pageant that advocates marine conservation and promote safe diving practices. Tuazon is said to be one of the very few forensic anthropologists in the Asia-Pacific Region. Daisy Whetlor of the United Kingdom was crowned Miss Scuba International 2018 while Dami Huang of Chinese Taipei, 1st Runner-Up. An independent person, Tuazon worked her way as a consistent scholar while doing several jobs to sustain and support her stay in the US. A forensic anthropologist from Aklan will represent the Philippines in the 8th Miss Scuba International pageant which will be held in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, as she steps up the campaign to discourage the public from using plastic, still one of the major irritants in marine preservation these days. "Right now, the Philippines is third largest contributor of plastic in the ocean. So we’re really trying to get out of the top 3 zone.  A beauty from Tangalan, Aklan has been named Darling of the Press during the presentation of the 16 official candidates for Miss Scuba Philippines 2018 pageant held in Quezon City recently. Pageant front-runner Noelle Fuentes Uy Tuazon was cheered by members of the media when it was announced that she has been selected for the special award, although organizers said that the special citation has no bearing in the selection of winner on finals night. The Darling of the Press special award was voted upon by members of the press who attended the pre-pageant presentation of the environment-driven contest. Miss Scuba PHL winners share simple tips on saving the ocean

The winners of the Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 contest gave simple tips on protecting the country's ocean which, reports said, is one of the biggest sources of plastic leaking into the very large body of water. Newly crowned Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 Sherlyn Legaspi Doloriel, of Misamis, Oriental, encouraged the public to plant mangroves and take part in clean-up operations. "I encourage them to plant mangroves and participated in clean-up activities. These are simple things which we can follow," said Doloriel, who just flew to Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, Malaysia for the Miss Scuba International 2017 pageant on Nov. 18. Danica Acuna of Romblon, 1st runner-up, said that the pageant is also involved in awareness campaign on protecting the ocean.
