How rich is fragrance entrepreneur Joel Cruz?

Fragrance entrepreneur Joel Cruz simply laughed when asked how rich he is these days. He did not go into details and tried to keep modest about his wealth.

But Cruz, who has built a perfumery empire for several years now, said that he is rich with kids.

Cruz opened up about the two new addition to his family who were conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF).

This will now bring to six the number of his children who were developed via the fertility procedure.

The newest addition - a boy and a girl - will be born in Russia on May 10.

Afterwards, Cruz will fetch his two kids and fly them to Manila where they will be raised.

"Yung dalawang addition sa family ko susunduin ko sa Russia pagkatapos silang ipanganak sa May," said Cruz, during the first Miss Philippine National Police (PNP) beauty pageant held at Camp Crame in Quezon City last Tuesday night.

According to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota,  IVF is a complex series of procedures used to treat fertility or genetic problems and assist with the conception of a child. During IVF, mature eggs are collected (retrieved) from your ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a lab.

When asked how his kids are doing these days, Cruz said: "Ok lang malalaki na sila. Yung unang set ko four years old na sila. I'm the biological father, 50 percent yung genes ko, then the rest sa Russian mom."

"Yung pangatlong set na ipapapanganak sa May 10, kanya pa rin yung egg cells. Kaya lahat sila, isa lang ang mom," said Cruz, chief executive officer of Aficionado Germany Perfume.

Cruz said that he plans to raise seven kids. "Kasi marami kaming magkakapatid kaya gusto ko big family."

He added that he is now preparing the division of wealth for his six children even if they are still young.

"Inaayos ko na yung hatian ng wealth pero bata pa naman sila. Kaya nasa trust fund muna yun," Cruz said.

Cruz also said that his two kids are now studying at a British school in Metro Manila.

His children are very playful, he said.

Given the chance, Cruz said that he wants his kids to inherit his multi-million perfumery business.

"Kung ako ang masusunod gusto kong iwan sa kanila ang business ko na Aficionado. Pero kung ano talaga ang passion nila susuportahan ko sila," he added.

"Being a father to them is more than just a duty or a responsibility. Its more of a passion. I have always been passionate in showing my love to them not only because I love them but to show how thankful I am that God gave them to fulfill my dreams of being a father," Cruz added. - Robert R.
