Eimeverlee Fren Canimo shines at annual Flores de Mayo
Reigning Binibining Kalikasan Eimeverlee Fren Canimo could be the youngest sagala to grace the annual Flores de Mayo organized by the Congregacion Del Nombre De Jesus but she sparkled like a pageant pro or fashion model.
During the annual festival held at the Music Hall of Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City last May 6, Canimo stood out as Honorary Rosa Mistica among bevy of beauties that included Bb. Pilipinas International 2018 Ahtisa Manalo, Miss Mutinational 2018 Sophia Senoron, Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 204 Yvhette Marie Santiago, and Miss Global Philippines 2017 Mary Ann Mungcal.
Said to be the most popular Flores De Mayo in the country, this year's theme is "Ginintuang Ani: Our Lady of Guadalupe" written and directed by Ogee Atos
Celebrated in the month of May, the annual festival is believed to have originated in the mid-1800s.
Flores De Mayo is a tradition in the Philippines where children with basket of flowers lined up at aisles of the church offering flowers to the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the altar.
Canimo, who received an academic award during Recognition Day of her school in Lucena, Quezon Province, wore an elegant Roy Aquino creation. She was escorted by Van Allen Ong.
Also known as Teen to her peers, Canimo has been appointed as Reyna delos Flores during the Santacruzan in Alabat, Quezon.
The popular Flores De Mayo event attracts the most sought-after fashion designers in the country. Among the designers who participated were Rene Salud, Oliver Tolentino, Chico Estiva, Roland Roxas, Jonti and Nickky Martinez, Louie Pangilinan among others. - ROBERT REQUINTINA
