Miss Philippine Youth 2019 Rikki Mae dela Pena has been chosen as the first ambassadress of a foundation that helps kids and out-of-school youth in their education. Known as Educational Research and Development Assistance (ERDA) Foundation, Inc., the group helps poor Filipino children have access to education since 1974. "I’ve known ERDA Foundation way back then because of their educational assistance for the out-of- school youth, leadership programs, French volunteers and their heroic sacrifices. New MUP, Smart help charity institutions for poor kids

The new Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) organization and Smart Communications, Inc. have donated more than P1.6 million to two charitable institutions that would help children with untreated clefts in developing countries, and help poor kids fund their education. MUP National Director Shamcey Supsup-Lee led the handing over of checks to Smile Train and Hope for Change organizations during the finals of Global Asian Model Philippines 2019 competition held at Okada Manila in Paranaque City last Dec. 13. The MUP, also in collaboration with Frontrow Philippines, donated US$16,500, roughly more than P800,000 each to the two charitable institutions. Smile Train is an international children’s charity with a sustainable approach to a single, solvable problem: cleft lip and palate. “Millions of children in developing countries with untreated clefts live in isolation, but more importantly, have difficulty eating, breathing and speaking,” the group said. Monk forecast victory of Mitzie Go Gil in int'l pageant

Newly crowned Mrs. Asia Pacific Tourism 2018 Mitzie Go Gil couldn't believe what a monk had told her days before she competed for the international pageant. "I attended an event and actress Ara Mina introduced me to a monk. Then the monk told me that he saw a vision where I would be holding a trophy or a torch in gold," said Gil during her homecoming and victory party in Pasig City recently. Gil, 40, said that she was surprised when the vision of the monk became a reality and she won Mrs. Asia Pacific Tourism 2018. "I didn't take his words seriously. In fact, I didn't tell him I was joining a beauty contest." She went home with a gold-plated trophy from the pageant.
