The Miss Earth 2018 beauty pageant is nearing homestretch as it almost wraps up its pre-pageant activities leading towards the grand coronation night on Nov. 3. While the preliminary judging for BEAUTY of FACE and POISE is finished, the 87 candidates will hurdle  two more important pre-pageant activities: FIGURE and FORM Preliminary Judging (Century Park Hotel) on Oct. 29; and INTELLIGENCE and ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS Preliminary Judging (Diamond Hotel) on Nov. 1. A pageant veteran-turned-history teacher has arrived home after he was crowned Mr. Star Model Universe 2018 during a pageant held in Lima, Peru recently. Mark Andrew Baron, who was born in Surigao del Sur but raised in Navotas City, has been joining several pageants here and abroad before he finally clinched an international title. Baron also said that this would be his last stint in the pageant world. "This will be my final pageant. After this, I will focus on being a teacher," said Baron, during an exclusive interview at his victory press conference held at the Kagandahang Flores beauty camp in Quezon City recently. Manushi Chhillar of India was crowned Miss World 2017 during a glittery pageant held in Sanya, China on Saturday, November 18. Miss England Stephanie Hill was 1st runner-up while Miss Mexico Andrea Meza 2nd runner-up. Other candidates in the Top 5 were delegates from Kenya and France. Manushi, 20, is currently studying for a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery. She has ambitions to be a cardiac surgeon and would like to open a chain of non-profitable hospitals based in rural areas. She has a passion for outdoor sports and actively participates in paragliding, bungee jumping, snorkeling and scuba diving. She is a trained Indian classical dancer and enjoys sketching and painting.
