PH anthropologist finishes 3rd in Miss Scuba Int'l pageant

Filipino beauty queens continue to shine abroad as a forensic anthropologist won second runner-up in the Miss Scuba International 2018 pageant held in Sabah, Malaysia last Nov. 17. Noelle Fuentes-Uy Tuazon, 26, of Tangalan, Aklan, finished third in the pageant that advocates marine conservation and promote safe diving practices. Tuazon is said to be one of the very few forensic anthropologists in the Asia-Pacific Region. Daisy Whetlor of the United Kingdom was crowned Miss Scuba International 2018 while Dami Huang of Chinese Taipei, 1st Runner-Up. An independent person, Tuazon worked her way as a consistent scholar while doing several jobs to sustain and support her stay in the US. Miss Scuba Philippines 2018 appeals: 'Avoid using plastic'

A forensic anthropologist from Aklan will represent the Philippines in the 8th Miss Scuba International pageant which will be held in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, as she steps up the campaign to discourage the public from using plastic, still one of the major irritants in marine preservation these days. "Right now, the Philippines is third largest contributor of plastic in the ocean. So we’re really trying to get out of the top 3 zone. At the same time, the Philippines is blessed with a lot of beautiful ocean and seas but we are not taking care of it as we should," says Noelle Fuentes Uy-Tuazon, during her exclusive press send-off at Rufo's Famous Tapa in Makati City last Sunday. Noelle Tuazon: Is she the next Miss World Philippines?

Meet Noelle Fuentes-Uy Tuazon, a native of Davao City and probably one of the very few forensic anthropologists in the Asia-Pacific Region. Tuazon, 25, is one of the front-runners in this year's Miss World Philippines beauty pageant, whose winner will represent the country at the 67th Miss World pageant in China in November. An independent and articulate person, Tuazon worked her way as a consistent scholar while doing several jobs to sustain and support her stay in the US. She finished her course of Bachelor of Science in Anthropology minor in Geography with a focus on biological anthropology and emphasis on Forensic Anthropology at the Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, USA. Tuazon is a highly dedicated anthropologist with specialization and hands on experience in cultural anthropology, fieldwork in archaeology, bio-archaeology and forensic/biological anthropology.
