Baby F. Go excited for new films in 2018, to work with big stars

Queen of independent Filipino movies Baby F. Go has said that she is excited about the year 2018 because of the several quality movie projects she has lined-up. "May movie ako ngayon na sinu-shooting sa Italy. At may apat kaming naka line-up pang international at local. Meron din pang mainstream sa showbiz, hindi lang pang indie," said Go during an exclusive interview at her office in Mandaluyong City recently. The first salvo for BG Productions International this year is the movie "Almost A Love Story" starring Kapuso stars Barbie Forteza and Derrick Monasterio. The film is now being shot in Italy. Also joining them are Ana Capri and Lotlot de Leon. The multi-award winning film producer also said that she's focused on competing in film festivals abroad rather than the local ones. 'Women of the Weeping River' tops 40th Urian awards

"Women of the Weeping River," a film about two women who attempt to stop violence brought about by the blood feud in a Muslim community, dominated the 40th Gawad Urian held at the Studio 10 of ABS CBN last Thursday night. "Women" won six awards, including Best picture and Best director, during ceremonies presented by members of the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino. "Die Beautiful," a comedy-drama about Filipino transgender, also took home awards in the acting category. The critically-acclaimed movie won awards for its lead star Paolo Ballesteros, who came in costume, Best actor; and Christian Bables, Best supporting actor. "Ang Babaeng Humayo," a story of a woman who was imprisoned for a crime she did not commit, was named Best picture at the inaugural Eddy's awards held at the Kia Theater in Cubao, Quezon City tonight (July 9). Shot in black and white, the movie also won awards for Best director (Lav Diaz) and John Lloyd Cruz (Best supporting actor). Also known as "The Woman Who Left," the same film won the Golden Lion award when it competed at the 73rd Venice Film Festival in 2016. But the movie withe the biggest number of awards at the Eddy's went to "Everything About Her" which won trophies for Vilma Santos, Best actress; Angel Locsin, Best supporting actress; Best musical score and Best screenplay. Aside from "Humayo," the two other films which received three awards each were "Seklusyon" and "Die Beautiful."
