Rep. Rida Robes named envoy of Korean NGO's Internet Peace Movement

Representative Florida "Rida" Robes (lone district, San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan) has been appointed as an ambassador of the Sunfull Internet Peace Movement to cultivate positive Internet culture. "I am honored to be an ambassador for Internet peace," said Roes during an ambush interview in Quezon following her appointment. "I want to work even harder to come up with actionable strategies that will pave the way for more constructive and nurturing experiences online among Filipinos. We have to put a stop to cyberbullying, hate speech, and human rights violations on the Internet," Robes said. The Sunfull Internet Movement is endorsed by H.E. Hang Dong Man, ambassador of the Republic of Korea. Fight HIV/AIDS in 'Battle in the Blood' mobile gaming app

The battle is on to fight human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) which causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome or AIDS! Dr. Emmanuel S. Baja, research associate professor, DOST “Balik” Scientist and Principal Investigator of the HIV Gaming, Engaging, and Testing (HIV GET Tested) Project from the Institute of Clinical Epidemiology, National Institutes of Health, University of the Philippines Manila, announced that a digital advocacy gaming application has been developed to help address the barriers to HIV testing and counselling (HTC). Dubbed "Battle in the Blood (#BitB)," the app is a unique puzzle and turn-based combat mobile game. The game aims to influence social norms, knowledge and attitude surrounding HIV/AIDs and to challenge the belief that you can no longer live a long and fulfilling life after a HIV positive diagnosis. Local creative industry gets backing from gov't

The Philippine government has expressed its full support to the local creative industry which involves art, animation, audio, and software engineering. This was revealed by Jackeline Chua, managing director and co-founder of Synergy88, a digital solutions company and art studio based in the Philippines. Chua said this after she joined the Philippine delegation at the External Development Summit held in Vancouver, Canada recently. "The Philippine booth was sponsored by the Department of Trade and Industry. And the government officials were with us that time to experience what the conference was all about.
