Queen of Pop Madonna celebrated her 60th birth anniversary last August 16 with a fund-raising event that will help the children of Malawi. Madonna's full statement: "I have an unwavering commitment to providing vulnerable children with a loving home. For my birthday, I can think of no better gift than connecting my global family with this beautiful country and the children who need our help most; "Every dollar raised will go directly to meals, schools, uniforms and healthcare. Veteran Kapuso broadcaster Mike Enriquez revealed on Aug. 22 that he went on leave from his radio program on Super Radyo DzBB and as news anchor on ''24 Oras'' due to medical reasons. The full statement of Enriquez: ''I am issuing this statement in response to a growing number of inquiries regarding my prolonged absence from the radio and television programs that I host on GMA; ''I am currently on medical leave. Former Miss Universe 1999 first runner-up Miriam Quiambao-Roberto shared a good news on Instagram that she is nine weeks pregnant. Quiambao, 43, says that she and her husband Ardy Roberto, author and a motivational speaker, have been praying for a child for four years. The ecstatic mother-to-be showed on IG a sonogram taken at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Muntinlupa City. Senator Risa Hontiveros and former Miss International Kylie Verzosa led the campaign to boost mental health awareness as they call on health maintenance organizations (HMOs) to provide wider coverage on benefits dealing with mental health. "There is an encouragement in the mental health law that calls for HMOs to include and expand specific mental health conditions," says Hontiveros, who was guest of honor, during the Mental Health Matters Fair held at Crown Spaces, a co-working and event space, in Makati City August 18. Eng'g graduate from General Santos wins Mr. Philippines 2018

A 21-year-old engineering graduate was crowned Mr. Philippines Grand International 2018 at the inaugural pageant held in Quezon City early Sunday morning. Kenneth B. Sadiang-abay, of General Santos City, bested 34 other male candidates for the major title in a contest that aims to help fight drug addiction. During the final question-and-answer portion, Sadiang-abay was asked about his edge over the other candidates in the pageant. He answered: "My edge is I have the discipline and determination to prove my personality." It is the first time for Sadiang-abay to join a national pageant. He took up marine engineering at the Mindanao Polytechnic College. Now that he won the pageant, Sadiang-abay says that wants to promote the rights of the poor children in his province.
