'Darna' ready to fly with other possible stars

Now that Liza Soberano has been confirmed to play the iconic heroine "Darna," speculations arose as to who will join her in the much-awaited action-fantasy movie.

Who will portray Ding?

We all know that Ding is the younger brother of Narda who eventually becomes Darna as soon as she swallows the stone and shouts her name (vice versa) when she fights the evil characters in the film. He's the only person who knows the secret of his sister.

Fans said that the role of Ding could be a toss up between child stars Onyok Pineda and Alonzo Muhlach.

Just few days ago, Onyok already left the popular television series "Ang Probinsyano" on ABS CBN after his mother played by Alessandra de Rossi took him to the province.

De Rossi said that she needed a companion and would take care of his son who would go to school this year.

Is it really goodbye for Onyok this time? The "Ang Probinsyano" television series has been extended until January 2018.

Muhlach could be another possible cast in the film for the role of Ding.

The child star has the charm of his father Nino Muhlach who used to play Ding in the Darna series played then by the Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos-Recto in the 1970s.

Another much-awaited star in the same film would be Valentina, the snake goddess who is also Darna's greatest enemy.

In 2016, it was announced that Sarah Lahbati, partner of Richard Gutierrez, will portray the snake queen. But Lahbati has been tight-lipped about it.

Other stars who previously played Valetina were Celia Rodriguez, Pilar Pilapil, Pilita Corrales, and Cherrie Gil. - ROBERT REQUINTINA
