                The Talon 2 Senior Citizens of Las PiƱas and the Apo, Sons and Daughters of World War II Veterans Association Incorporated of Las PiƱas are thankful to Senator Cynthia Villar and Las PiƱas Congresswoman Camille Villar for providing them with their new office headquarters complete with a vegetable garden, vermicomposting and waste management facilities. The new office buildings are located in Barangay Talon 2 in Las PiƱas             “Our elders come from a generation which value simple and sustainable living. They are the first proponents of growing food in our own homes or backyards. Besides providing headquarters for their associations, we also want them to be productive. The 'run for a cause' was being sponsored by the Villar SIPAG where the senator sits as director, to instil public awareness in cleaning our river and maintaining a healthy environment.

Las Pinas City celebrates 14th Waterlily festival

Las Pinas City’s rich cultural heritage took centerstage once again in the celebration of the 14th Waterlily Festival. Sen. Cynthia Villar, who started the holding of the festivities in 2006, said the festival through the years,  has served the purpose of being the show window for the city’s most talented performers and the most beautiful and creative people. “We are very proud of this festival which we also hold to express our commitment for a lifestyle that is in harmony with nature and the environment,” Villar said. The yearly festivity was participated in by more than 2,000 attendees and many more tourists and spectators coming from nearby areas. Among the activities lined up for the occasion was the coronation of Miss Las Pinas Waterlily 2019 at Villar Sipag Complex where Mikaela Grace Salcedo of Barangay Pamplona 3 took home the crown and the P25,000 cash prize. Villar family marks Christmas with Baseco and Iruhin kids

The Villar family led by Senate President Manny and Senator Cynthia Villar celebrated their annual Christmas gift-giving get-together with some 150 kids from barangay Baseco in Tondo and barangay Iruhin in Tagaytay at the Christmas Village in Crosswinds, Tagaytay. Joined by Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar and wife Justice Undersecretary Emmeline Villar, Camille Villar and grandchildren Emma Therese and Tristan, the family sang and played with the kids in the annual gift-giving affair hosted by the Villar SIPAG (Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance). “We are very happy to have spent this special time with the kids,” Senate President Villar said as he watched kids, aged 2 to 13 years old, enjoy the Christmas Village set up at the 100-hectare Crosswinds community in Tagaytay. An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Qatar won a house and lot from Camella Homes in the raffle draw during the 8th OFW and Family Summit held at the World Trade  Center in Pasay City last November  21. Sen. Cynthia A. Villar, also Director of Villar SIPAG handed to Edmundo C. Enguero of Cabuyao City Laguna, the symbolical key after winning the House and Lot from Camella Homes. Among those who witnessed the turn-over ceremony were former Senate President Manny Villar, daughter Camille Villar, Director of Vista Land, daughter-in-law Usec. Villar highlights value of investments in OFW future

Financial literacy, especially on investments and business start-ups, are important factors in ensuring that hard-earned incomes and savings of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are put to good use, Sen. Cynthia Villar said at the 8th OFW and Family Summit last Nov. 21. Villar, in her capacity as director of the Villar Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance (Villar SIPAG), made the remark as she urged OFWs who attended the event to be financially-smart to ensure a better future for their families. “I hope that you will practice all the lessons, tips and suggestions that you learned today from our finance experts. Villar cites innovations in seed technology

Sen. Cynthia Villar was keynote speaker and guest of honor during a field day showcasing the latest in seed technology and cultivation techniques, which was attended by 80 foreign delegates from 49 countries. Villar, chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture and Food, commended East-West Seed for its work to help small-hold vegetable farmers grow better crops and higher yield. With the theme “Better Seeds for a Better World,” the field day took place at the Villar SIPAG Farm School in Bacoor, Cavite. It is a post-Congress tour of the 25th Asian Seed Congress held last November 12-16. The yearly summit that became the go-to event for trainings and discussions designed to address the needs of the overseas Filipino workers and their dependents will be having its eighth edition this month. Sen. Cynthia Villar, in her capacity as director of the Villar Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance (Villar SIPAG), announced that the 8th OFW and Family Summit will be held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City on Nov. 21. The one-day summit with the theme “OFW: Perang Pinaghirapan, Palaguin,” will be focusing on topics that will guide OFWs and their families how to make their money grow. “We all know a story about an OFW who, after years of toiling abroad, comes home with little or no savings. Senator Cynthia Villar turns 68 today, July 29, as she makes simple wishes on her birth anniversary "Lahat ng tao gusto natin good health at saka sana marami pa tayong maibigay na hanap-buhay sa ating mga kababayan," says Villar, during an interview at the 13th Waterlily Festival held at the Villar SIPAG compound in Las Pinas City last July 27. Sen. Villar receives honoris causa doctorate from UPLB

Sen. Cynthia Villar was awarded an honorary doctorate by the country’s premiere school in agricultural studies during the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) 46th Commencement Exercises held at D.L. Umali Freedom Park, UPLB. Villar, chairperson of the Senate Committees on Agriculture and Food and on Environment and Natural Resources, was recognized by the UP Board of Regents for her achievements in the fields of agricultural development, poverty alleviation, education and upholding the welfare of women and children. Dr. Fernando Sanchez, Chancellor of UPLB, said Villar is being recognized “for her commitment to public service and dedication to the welfare of the Filipino people.” In receiving the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, Villar said “it is truly an honor and privilege that you all deem me worthy of this recognition.” From left: Dr. J.
