The 'run for a cause' was being sponsored by the Villar SIPAG where the senator sits as director, to instil public awareness in cleaning our river and maintaining a healthy environment.

Las Pinas City’s rich cultural heritage took centerstage once again in the celebration of the 14th Waterlily Festival. Sen. Cynthia Villar, who started the holding of the festivities in 2006, said the festival through the years,  has served the purpose of being the show window for the city’s most talented performers and the most beautiful and creative people. “We are very proud of this festival which we also hold to express our commitment for a lifestyle that is in harmony with nature and the environment,” Villar said. Cynthia Villar was awarded an honorary doctorate by the country’s premiere school in agricultural studies during the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) 46th Commencement Exercises held at D.L. Umali Freedom Park, UPLB.
