Villars donate drinking water for frontliners

As part of the relief effort of the Villar family to help the people badly affected by the COVID-19 crisis, packs of bottled drinking water were donated to the Department of Health recently. Frontliners in different hospitals in Metro Manila are the target beneficiaries of said donation.

DoH launches Covid-19 emergency hotlines

The Department of Health (DoH) launched on March 17 the DOH COVID-19 emergency hotlines 02-894-COVID (02-894-26843) and 1555 in partnership with the National Emergency Hotline of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and PLDT and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications Inc. Callers can ask questions if they suspect they are infected with COVID-19, or request assistance if they have symptoms and/or known exposure to confirmed cases or patients under investigation. The information collected from emergency calls is transmitted to the COVID-19 Emergency Operations Center and other relevant agencies for immediate facilitation and response.  “As we enhance our efforts to contain this disease, we are working with both the public and private sectors, which can provide the facilities and the technical expertise to address the many challenges that we face each day. DoH reports 1st recovered Covid-19 Filipino case

The Department of Health (DoH) confirmed reports of the recovery and subsequent discharge of a Filipino COVID-19 case. This brings the total of recovered patients in the Philippines to 3. The recovered case is PH14, a 46-year old male who manifested with cough and fever on February 25, 2020. He was admitted March 5 at Makati Medical Center, and was confirmed with COVID-19 on March 9. The patient is now asymptomatic and tested negative twice for COVID-19 prior to discharge. “While this is a very welcome development, there is no reason for us to be complacent. In order to contain the virus, we may also need to extend community quarantine to other areas of the country. We need the public to cooperate with us now more than ever, and serve as our partners in ensuring that the spread of COVID-19 is put to a halt. DFA, DoH bring home Filipinos from M/V Grand Princess

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Department of Health (DoH) repatriated 444 overseas Filipinos (OFs) from the M/V Grand Princess cruise ship docked in the Port of Oakland in California, USA early morning of March 16. Among the 444 repatriated OFs are 438 crew members and six passengers. The repatriates underwent health screening upon disembarkation from the cruise ship facilitated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Information regarding the repatriates is currently being validated. “While the US government did not perform any mass confirmatory testing for our repatriates, only those who are asymptomatic were allowed to board the plane home. We will conduct testing for our repatriates immediately once they have settled. Filipino-Chinese groups donate P100 M to prevent coronavirus

Leaders of the Filipino-Chinese community announced on March 12 the P100 million donation worth of medical supplies to the Department of Health (DoH)  for the prevention of COVID-19 in the Philippines. Henry Lim Bon Liong, president of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), made the announcement during the Pandesal Forum of Kamuning Bakery Cafe in Quezon City. "To support the Philippine government's prevention and control efforts against COVID-19, we are donating P100 million worth of medical supplies to help the Department of Health with testing kits and other paraphernalia," said Liong when he read the statement. Liong said that everything will be coursed through the DoH. "There will be no cash. The donation is in-kind." Villar, DOH open drug rehab center in Las Pinas

Sen. Cynthia Villar and Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque led the soft opening of the Las Pinas Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Barangay Ilaya. The facility has a 2- storey building for female occupants with 86-patient capacity and a 3-storey building for male occupants with 158-patient capacity. The Villar family renovated two idle buildings formerly assigned to the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines and the Provincial Board Members League of the Philippines and transformed it into a rehab center. In return the villar family built two-three storey bldg for both the vice mayors league and board members league. “The rehab center is part of our contribution to the administration’s campaign against illegal drugs. Through this facility, we can now have a place in Las Piñas and neighboring cities to transform drug-dependent individuals into fully responsible and productive members of our society,” Villar said. Three persons - male, female and trans woman - will join the government's campaign to fight human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) which causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) after they were chosen ambassadors of the LHIVE Free REDvocates Advocacy by the Department of Health (DoH) during a tri-pageant held at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City recently. Thirty candidates - 10 men, 10 women and 10 transgender women - are vying for ambassadors of the government's campaign against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) which causes Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The 30 official "redvocates" of the contest known as LHIVE Free tri-pageant were formally presented to the press during a special show held at House Manila in Pasay City last Sept. 20. Rival Filipino beauty camps unite to help fight HIV/AIDS

The country's two rival beauty camps - Kagandahang Flores and Aces and Queens - have joined forces to help the Department of Health (DoH) in the new renewed fight against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) which causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS).
