Angel Locsin wins acting award in Cambodia

Kapamilya star Angel Locsin was named Best Supporting Actress at the 57th Asia-Pacific Film Festival held in Phnom Phen, Cambodia last Sunday. Locsin won the award for the 2016 movie "Everything About Her" which also stars Vilma Santos-Recto and Xian Lim. In the movie, Locsin played the role of a nurse caring for Santos who portrayed the part of a cancer patient. "Thank you very, very much for this incredible honor," said Locsin on Instagram as she posted an image of the trophy from the international film festival. Locsin was not present during the awarding ceremony, according to a report by ABS CBN. Filipino director Will Fredo accepted the award on behalf of the 32-year-old actress. This was not the first time that Locsin was recognized by an international awad-giving body. The Eddy's 2017 winners: The complete list

"Ang Babaeng Humayo," a story of a woman who was imprisoned for a crime she did not commit, was named Best picture at the inaugural Eddy's awards held at the Kia Theater in Cubao, Quezon City tonight (July 9). Shot in black and white, the movie also won awards for Best director (Lav Diaz) and John Lloyd Cruz (Best supporting actor). Also known as "The Woman Who Left," the same film won the Golden Lion award when it competed at the 73rd Venice Film Festival in 2016. But the movie withe the biggest number of awards at the Eddy's went to "Everything About Her" which won trophies for Vilma Santos, Best actress; Angel Locsin, Best supporting actress; Best musical score and Best screenplay. Aside from "Humayo," the two other films which received three awards each were "Seklusyon" and "Die Beautiful." "Die Beautiful," a comedy-drama about a Filipino transgender, led the inaugural Entertainment Editors' Choice Awards for Movies or the Eddy's with 13 nominations. The films "Pamilya Ordinaryo," "Saving Sally," and "Everything About Her" received 12 nominations each. The Eddy's was organized by the Philippine Society of Entertainment Editors (Speed). "Given our collective experience and many decades of chronicling the careers, artistic processes, and the successes and failures of actors, directors, producers and other players in the Philippine movie industry, we feel we are in a distinctive position to hand out sound recognition for the best in filmmaking over the past year,” Isah V. Red, Speed president and Manila Standard entertainment editor, said in a statement.
