1st Eddy's awards: Who will win big?

"Die Beautiful," a comedy-drama about a Filipino transgender, led the inaugural Entertainment Editors' Choice Awards for Movies or the Eddy's with 13 nominations.

The films "Pamilya Ordinaryo," "Saving Sally," and "Everything About Her" received 12 nominations each.

The Eddy's was organized by the Philippine Society of Entertainment Editors (Speed).

"Given our collective experience and many decades of chronicling the careers, artistic processes, and the successes and failures of actors, directors, producers and other players in the Philippine movie industry, we feel we are in a distinctive position to hand out sound recognition for the best in filmmaking over the past year,” Isah V. Red, Speed president and Manila Standard entertainment editor, said in a statement.

The winners will be announced during ceremonies at the Kia Theater in Cubao, Quezon City on July 9, 2017 at 7 p.m.
