Mayor Binay pays tribute to Philippine fashion
Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay paid tribute on Sept. 20 to Filipino heritage through a fashion spectacle that promoted traditional clothing and fibers. Dubbed "Kasuotang Pilipino 2019 (Banyuhay), Fashion Show," Binay said that the event aims a revival of the Filipino identity in the city by paying homage to people of our regional backgrounds and to promote traditional clothing and fibers. With the theme "banyuhay" (metamorphosis), the annual fashion event was inspired by the outstanding traits of the people from our major islands: industry and frugality from Luzon, partying and merrymaking from the Visayas; and love of heritage from Mindanao.
