Carousel Productions, which organizes the annual Miss Philippines Earth and Miss Earth beauty pageants, said on Thursday, November 8, that it will not tolerate any offensive or indecent acts or behavior to be committed towards or against any of its delegates and staff members. For the first time in recent years, the Miss Earth 2018 pageant scrapped the "Darling of the Press" special award "to be fair" to all the candidates. "They say it's always the Philippines who wins this special award. So I decided to scrap it this year to be fair," says Carousel Productions Executive Vice President Lorraine Schuck, during an interview at the press presentation of official candidates for Miss Earth 2018 pageant held at Diamond Hotel in Manila on October 11. The Darling of the Press has been a customary special award in prestigious pageants which is given to the candidate who exudes appeal and charm for the members of the press who cover the pageant. The winner is selected through ballots as voted upon by members of the press, although the winner of the special award has no bearing during coronation night on Nov. 3.
