BTS makes history in US music charts

K-pop makes history in the American music scene after the BTS album "Love Yourself: Tear" went to No. 1 on the Billboard music charts for the week ending on June 2. This is the first time that a Korean album finished at the summit of the prestigious music charts since it published its first music hit parade in the US in 1936. Released through BitHit Entertainment on May 18, the album launches with 135,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending May 24, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 100,000 were in traditional album sales, according to Billboard Magazine. BTS has also achieved several firsts with their international success in music.
