Mutya ng Pilipinas to work on new crowns in 2018

Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo, newly appointed president of Mutya ng Pilipinas, has said that the pageant will design new crowns for next year's edition of the prestigious competition. "For now, we will revise the crowns. But next year, which is our golden year, we will work on new crowns," said Tamayo during an exclusive interview. Tamayo also said that the Mutya ng Pilipinas beauty pageant will keep its original theme song. The 49th Mutya ng Pilipinas beauty pageant is nearing its homestretch as it stages the Regional Competition at the Resorts World Manila in Pasay City tonight, July 26, at 7 p.m. On Friday, July 28, the candidates will compete in the Evening Gown competition at Alta D' Tagaytay at 7 p.m. Thirty candidates are competing in this year's pageant which advocates "beauty tourism." The Mutya ng Pilipinas 2017 pre-pageant activities shifted to high gear as it presented more special awards during a special presentation held at the Hannah's Beach Resort and Convention Center in Ilocos Norte last Saturday, July 22. Louise Lian Enumerable (Negros Island Region) was named Miss Photogenic. Jannie Loudette Alipo-on (Navotas) was awarded Best In Resort Wear and Mutya ng Hannah's. Savannah Mari Gankiewicz (Hawaii) won 1st runner-up for Mutya ng Hannah's while Suzanne Perez (Mutya ng California) was 2nd runner-up for Mutya ng Hannah's. Another pageant for married women dubbed Mrs. Tourism was launched at West Avenue Suites on West Avenue in Quezon City recently. Pageant organizer Ovette Ricalde said that the winner will be the face and voice of the pageant's advocacy to stop racial discrimination and promote her own social platform. Mrs. Tourism pageant will crown three queens: Mrs. Tourism Earth, Mrs. Tourism International and Mrs. Tourism Universe. "The winners will be known as 'Mothers Who Care for the World.'
