"Titanic" singer Celine Dion got emotional as she wrapped up the first night of her two-day jampacked concert at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City Thursday night, July 19. Dion sang her heart out to the delight of Filipino fans who cheered her hits songs such as "It's All Coming Back To Me Now," "All By Myself," "Because You Loved Me," "My Heart Will Go On," "That's The Way It Is," "To Love You More," etc. The Grammy award-winning singer was teary eyed before she sang an a capella version of "Can't Help Fallin' In Love" for her encore. A fashion model from Vietnam was crowned Man of the World 2018 during a pageant held at FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan, Metro Manila Saturday night, July 14. Crowd favorite Cao Xuan Tai of Vietnam edged out 26 other candidates from around the world in the contest that highlights masculinity and responsibility. Philippine Clint Karklins Peralta, a registered nurse, was named 1st runner up. Other winners were Malta, 2nd runner-up; Czech Republic, 3rd runner-up, and Thailand, 4th runner-up. Crib: The next big thing in original Pilipino music

There's a new band in the music scene called Crib and they just launched their debut album. "Crib has been in the music scene for almost 10 years now. We are active in gigs. Now we have an album," says TJ Sarvida, lead vocals of the band, who is a dead ringer for actor Paulo Avelino, during an interview at the Metro Walk in Pasig City recently. Sarvida says that the band use to play back-up to some of the popular OPM artists aside from their nightly gigs prior to invading the mainstream music scene. "Our genre is sub-genre rock, also known as adult-oriented rock. Our influences include Toto, Michael McDonald, Hall and Oates, Christopher Cross, etc. For newer artists, our influences are Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran," adds Sarvida, a young entrepreneur. Urban agriculture is a viable intervention to make poor households and communities healthier and more food sufficient, Sen. Cynthia A. Villar has said. Villar, who is the chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food, notes how the spiraling prices of food and other commodities have made life more difficult for families in poor urban communities. In urban communities where living spaces are cramped and land use is limited, Villar said households can practice urban gardening and plant vegetables in small pots and empty plastic containers to have their own vegetable gardens for their family's supply of nutritious greens.
