Gazini Ganados, groups launch drive to help protect seniors vs COVID-19

Let's help keep lolo & lola safe from #COVID19! This was the appeal of reigning Miss Universe Philippines Gazini Ganados and other non-government organizations after they launched a fund-raising campaign that would help protect the grandparents and seniors against the dreaded COVID-19. Ganados, whose advocacy as beauty queen focuses on care for the elderly, launched the project on Instagram. 2019 Miss Universe beauty pageant heading to Atlanta

For the first time in 68 years, the Miss Universe beauty pageant would be held at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia on Dec. 8 (Dec. 9 Manila time). This was announced by the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) on its official website on Oct. 31 (Nov. 1 Manila time). It also released its official teaser for the pageant. “Atlanta has been the stage to some of the word’s most-watched events in modern history, and we are excited to show the one billion annual viewers of MISS UNIVERSE® the rich culture of this city," the MUO said in its official statement.  Atlanta was also the site of the Summer Olympics in 1996. Gazini Ganados poses for elderly portrait artists

Reigning Miss Universe Philippines posed for members of the elderly community doing portraits in which proceeds will benefit a charity of choice of the beauty queen. At the Gateway Gallery in Quezon City Friday night, Sept. 6, Gazini who wore a Cary Santiago gown struck a pose for 15 elderly painters for four hours. These portraits will be sold afterwards and part of the proceeds will be donated to a charity of Gazini's choice. Those interested to purchase a portrait may contact Gateway Gallery curator Gari Apolonio at  gatewaygallery@araneta.group. com . The portrait session was part of the Grandparents Day celebration at the Araneta Center in Quezon City on Sept. 8. There will be different activities across the Center. Gazini Ganados reacts to rumored staging of Miss Universe in PH

If reigning Miss Universe Philippines Gazini Ganados would have her way, she doesn't want the prestigious beauty contest to be held in the country during her reign. "To be honest, I want the Miss Universe pageant to be held abroad because I want to travel sana," said Ganados during an interview after she was presented as the newest ambassadress for Blue Water Day Spa at Florabel Restaurant, Estancia Mall in Pasig City July 31. Gazini was reacting to rumors that the Miss Universe 2019 pageant might be held in Manila for the 4th time in January 2020. Earlier there were reports that the pageant would be staged either in South Korea or Dubai. But other reports said that it might be held in the Philippines once again. "But of course, I will respect the decision of the Miss Universe Organization for the country where they will stage the pageant," Gazini said.
