Filipino-British talent sets sights on local showbiz

A Filipino-British girl who has been making waves in singing, dancing and pageantry abroad has  joined local show business after she signed up for a local talent management. Amelia James, 12, has signed up for Angles Arts Entertainment and Recreation Ltd. Co. headed by Tatta Saguin, also a national pageant director. "Amelia is eager to start her showbiz career in the Philippines. With her immense talent and beauty, she's got what it takes to be a star here," said Saguin. HK psychologist crowned Miss Global 2018

A psychologist from Hong Kong was crowned Miss Global 2018 during a pageant held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila in Pasay City which started Monday night (February 17) and ended early Tuesday morning (February 18). Sophia Ng bested more than 40 candidates in the international pageant that caters to single mothers and single women. She was crowned by Barbara Vitorelli from Brazil who relinquished her title. Ng is the former winner of Miss Asian America 2018 beauty pageant. She has a passion to help children with depression. The beauty queen from Hong Kong also said that it was a last-minute decision for her run in the Miss Global contest.  She added that she will not pursue other pageants such as Miss Chinatown or Miss America because there's so much preparation for these prestigious beauty contests. Mr. Gay World 2019 moved from Hong Kong to South Africa

The annual international search for a gay role model had been set to take place in Hong Kong from 28 April to 4 May, 2019. Unfortunately, the local hosting company, which is located on the Chinese mainland, has confirmed that it cannot proceed with organising the contest due to a clampdown by the Chinese authorities on LGBTQ affirming events and campaigns. “It is with great disappointment that I’ve been informed that Mr Gay World will not be able to go ahead in Hong Kong due to the struggles that our Chinese colleagues and their families are facing in their homeland,” commented Eric Butter, President and Founder of Mr Gay World. “The safety of our delegates and their families is of utmost importance."
