Ahtisa Manalo: What she wants for Christmas

Miss International 2018 first-runner up Maria Ahtisa Manalo has only one wish for herself this holiday season: get enough rest. When asked about the gift she wanted for Christmas, Manalo said: "Yung gift sa sarili ko hindi ko pa naibibigay which is rest. Bago ako umalis, I was busy already. In Japan full-packed 'yung schedule namin for one month. We rarely get some sweet time also." "When I got back here, wala pa rin rest. I really just wanted to rest. But that the best gift I can give to myself," says Manalo. Throughout the finals night of the Miss International 2018 pageant held in Japan, Manalo was confident but relaxed on stage. Nadine Bornilla is PH bet to Miss Teen Int'l 2018 pageant

Fifteen-year-old Simone Nadine Bornilla will be the country's representative to the Miss Teen International contest which will be held in New Delhi, India on Dec. 19. Bornilla is a Grade 10 student of Colegio San Agustin in Makati City. Last Jan. 5, she represented Makati City in the Mr. and Ms. Philippines Youth contest. Nadine, as fondly called by her peers, loves to sing. In fact, she is a Senior Soprano 1 member of the prestigious Augustinian Singers of Colegio San Agustin-Makati. Her talent in singing blossomed following her summer training workshops at Spotlight Artist Centre under the supervision of Isay Alvarez. She also attended ballet classes when she was 8 at Ballet Manila under the supervision of Lisa Macuja. Bea Rose Santiago: 'I was molested by a priest'

Former Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago revealed last Monday, November 12, that she was molested by a priest when she was a child. Santiago, 28, made the confession on Facebook as she points out that "sexual harassment is real not just in pageants but everywhere." Her full revelations: "I was molested when I was a child by a priest. He is still preaching somewhere in Masbate; "I was told 'why are you born too late! or sus sayang ka Bea, kong napanganak ka lang mas maaga' by a pageant guy winner. Ahtisa Manalo, who finished second in the Miss International 2018 beauty pageant held in Tokyo, Japan last Nov. 9, says that she is dedicating her pageant victory to the Filipinos around the world. "Pilipinas Kong Mahal, binigay ko lahat para sa iyo, lahat lahat. Philippines, you were my motivation every step of the way, " Manalo says on Instagram on Nov. 11. Miss Philippines Ma. Ahtisa Manalo is now enjoying the sights in Japan as she gains new friends at the Miss International 2018 beauty contest on-going in Tokyo. Manalo, 21, is aiming to be the 7th Miss International title holder from the Philippines. Other Filipinas who have won in the 58-year-old pageant were Gemma Cruz (1964), Aurora Pijuan (1970), Melanie Marquez (1979), Precious Lara Quigaman (2005), Bea Rose Santiago (2013) and Kylie Verzosa (2016). Wider coverage for benefits on mental health pushed

Senator Risa Hontiveros and former Miss International Kylie Verzosa led the campaign to boost mental health awareness as they call on health maintenance organizations (HMOs) to provide wider coverage on benefits dealing with mental health. "There is an encouragement in the mental health law that calls for HMOs to include and expand specific mental health conditions," says Hontiveros, who was guest of honor, during the Mental Health Matters Fair held at Crown Spaces, a co-working and event space, in Makati City August 18. Hontiveros adds: "There are human resources directors who tell me that they are really hesitant to hire people with mental condition not just in the schools, not just in our families, not just in government but also in the workplace and private sector. Former Miss International Kylie Verzosa has said that she enjoyed her acting debut in "Ang Panday" despite criticisms that she doesn't know how to act on screen. "First of all, thank you. Yung unang sabak ko po, first time ko talaga yun. Mariel de Leon: Proud of her achievement as beauty queen

Though she did not advance to the Top 15 of the Miss International 2017 pageant in Tokyo, Japan last  Nov. 14, Bb. Pilipinas International Mariel de Leon has said that she is proud of how far she has achieved as a beauty queen. "I’m so proud of how far I’ve come, how hard I fought and how much I grew & transformed! Strong, empowered, and brave is the new sexy," said Mariel on Instagram, one day after the Miss International contest. Mariel, daughter of veteran stars Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong, also said that she gave her all during the competition.
