Villar leads launch of training for trainors

Banking on their goals of making farmers and stakeholders in the agricultural sector more competitive and profitable, Sen. Cynthia A. Villar welcomed all members of the Batch 3 of the trainees at the Villar SIPAG Farm School.  Villar, chair of the Senate agriculture and food committee, says she is happy with the additional number of people who will undergo their program in partnership with the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Region IV-A on Farming Business School.  This was designed to help farmers learn and improve their knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship and farm business management.

The senator, who topped the last senatorial elections, held a dialogue with businessmen during the World Trade Center Metro Manila business forum. Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who succeeded in their ventures in agriculture take center stage during the 7th OFW and Family Summit held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. Senator Cynthia Villar, chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture and Food and director of the organization behind the annual holding of the summit, Villar Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance (Villar SIPAG), said summit attendees were inspired by the experiences shared by agriculture entrepreneurs or agri-preneurs. “Our ultimate dream is to see the day when our kababayans are no longer compelled by lack of local opportunities to work abroad and leave their loved ones behind. OOSM Solutions marks its 1st year, ready for expansion

Australian-based OOSM Solutions, a business process outsourcing company, will expand in the provinces as it marks its first year of operations in the Philippines. "We have a five-year time frame. First year in Makati City, second in Cavite, third in San Juan, Batangas, which is my hometown; fourth, Dumaguete and fifth, Palawan," said Linda Salud-Margon, chief executive officer of OOSM Solutions, during a press conference in Greenhills, San Juan last August 20. Salud-Margon also said that the OOSM will be hiring persons with disabilities (PWDs) as soon as it opens in other provinces. "We will be hiring were 500 PWDs for every provincial site." She explains, however, that there are no PWDs in the Makati City office.
