Villar boosts capabilities of barangay tanod

Being the “first responders,” Sen. Cynthia Villar recognized the need to train barangay tanod (village watchmen) on the different processes  and means of conducting surveillance and keeping watch, responding to calamities and emergencies, among  others. Along this line, the Villar Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance (Villar SIPAG), in partnership with the Las Pinas police, sponsored a crime prevention skills enhancement training for barangay tanod.

Western Visayas top cop bats for drug-free province

Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Police Regional Office-6 director, has vowed to continue its intensified campaign on illegal drugs without let-up in Bacolod and Negros Occidental. This after some  P23,180,153 worth of shabu was confiscated in Western Visayas based on data from the regional office from June 27 to July 27 this year. Of which, the bulk of shabu came from Negros Occidental (P13.8 million), Bacolod City (P9.2 million), and  P162,653 worth of shabu were seized from the provinces of Aklan, Iloilo, Antique, Guimaras, and Capiz. This is a big achievement considering that Pamuspusan only started his two-year tour of duty last June 27. “Expect more confiscations. Bacolod City and Negros Occidental are the focus of our operation,” said Police Lieutenant Joem Malong, spokesperson of PRO-6. Newly crowned Miss PNP 2018 eyes national pageants

Newly crowned Police Officer 1 Madonna Gay Cajoco has said that she might consider joining national pageants if she will get support from the police organization and her family. "If I will get the support of the Philippine National Police, then I will join other pageants. I have to take a leave from the police force if I will do it," said Cajoco moments after she was crowned at the 2nd annual Miss PNP Ganda Pulis beauty pageant held at the Camp Crame headquarters in Quezon City. Cajoco, 24, has been an early favorite in the pageant after she won several special awards such as Best in Ethnic Costume, Ms. Mac Cosmetics, Ms. MX3, Best in Resorts Wear, Best in Long Gown, at Ms. Above Aesthetics. The new queen also received P50,000 cash and products from this year's sponsors. Pageant cop Police Officer 2 Neil Perez has revealed that he is seeking signs from heaven to guide him in his decision involving his career. "Pinagdarasal ko rin na gabayan ako sa taas sa tamang decision ko pagdating sa career," said Perez, when asked if he could be a policeman and an actor-model at the same time, during the awarding ceremonies for the Philippine Empowered Men and Women of 2017 held at the Teatrino in Greenhills last December 2. One of the memorable candidates to hit the male pageant scene in recent years is PO2 Don McGyver Cochico. He was crowned 2015 Manhunt Philippines during the Misters of Filipinas pageant organized by the Prime Events Production Philippines, Inc. headed by its president Carlo Morris Galang. This charming six-footer was discovered by Eton Concepcion, a talent scout who also works for the Philippine National Police at the Camp Crame headquarters in Quezon City. Cliche as it may sound, Cochico said that he joined the male pageant so that he could reach out to people. But this macho man would not have a hard time in doing that since he has been serving the public when he joined the police force six years ago. Police Inspector Christopher "Chriz" Comicho Dulagan is all set to conquer the world as he represents the Philippines in the 1st Man of the World 2017 contest which will be held in Manila on July 28. Ariana Grande stops world tour after bombing - report

American pop singer Ariana Grande has put her world tour on hold after the deadly bombing in Manchester, England last Monday night, according to a report by TMZ. So far, the scheduled shows in England, Belgium, Poland, Germany and Switzerland have been cancelled in the wake of the terror attack. But there are still no words if Grande would still take her "Dangerous Woman" Tour in Asia, including the Philippines, in August and September. So far, 22 people have been killed while almost 60 others were injured in one of the deadliest bombings in London in recent years, according to CNN. US pop singer Ariana Grande took to social media to apologize for the deadly bombing incident in Manchester, England where 19 concertgoers were killed while 50 others were hurt last Monday night. "Broken. From the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i don't have words," said Grande in a tweet following the explosions. "Ariana is OK. We are further investigating what happened," Joseph Carozza, Grande's publicist with Republic Records, told the LA Times. Universal Music Group said in a statement on Facebook: "We are deeply saddened to learn of tonight's devastating event in Manchester. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragedy." Help pours in after blasts at Ariana Grande's show

Help poured in for victims of the deadly bombing at the concert of US pop singer Ariana Grande  at the Manchester Arena in England last Monday night, according to a report by The Telegraph. Police said that 19 people were killed while scores were hurt in the deadly explosion which police believed was caused by a suicide bomber. Grande, who will hold a concert in the Philippines on August 21, was not injured in the blast, according to her representative. Several people in the area took to social media to offer lifts and accommodations in need after trains were cancelled at the Victoria Station, the Telegraph added. Chris Dulagan is ready to rumble in Man of the World

Police Inspector Christopher "Chris" C. Dulagan is all set to compete in the first Man of the World contest which will be held in the Philippines on July 29. "Sana po tulungan nyo po ako sa laban nating ito. I will represent the whole Igorots, the whole Cordillera and the whole Philippines," said Dulagan in an interview on ABS-CBN News. Dulagan also said that joining an international male pageant would help him uplift the image of the Igorots. "It's an opportunity rin na makalapit sa national pageant bilang isang pulis at na uplift ko yung image ng pagiging Igorot. Ang daming nagtatanong kung Igorot ka ba talaga.
