Western Visayas top cop bats for drug-free province

Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Police Regional Office-6 director, has vowed to continue its intensified campaign on illegal drugs without let-up in Bacolod and Negros Occidental.

This after some P23,180,153 worth of shabu was confiscated in Western Visayas based on data from the regional office from June 27 to July 27 this year.

Of which, the bulk of shabu came from Negros Occidental (P13.8 million), Bacolod City (P9.2 million), and P162,653 worth of shabu were seized from the provinces of Aklan, Iloilo, Antique, Guimaras, and Capiz.
This is a big achievement considering that Pamuspusan only started his two-year tour of duty last June 27.

“Expect more confiscations. Bacolod City and Negros Occidental are the focus of our operation,” said Police Lieutenant Joem Malong, spokesperson of PRO-6.

Shabu in those areas  reportedly came from Cebu City and Negros Oriental.
Drug trafficking activities have waned in Iloilo and other provinces in Panay Island,  said Malong.
Drug personalities and groups were continuously being pursued, she said.
“The goal is to sustain the gains of the PRO-6 in the revitalized campaign against illegal drugs, targeting the remaining drug personalities and groups in Panay and Negros islands,” said Malong.
Pamuspusan have ordered regional commanders under his jurisdiction to step up its campaign on illegal drugs during a command conference.
