Nadine Bornilla takes the plunge into swimwear fashion

SimoneSwimwear is for the young and young at heart. This is how teen queen Simone Nadine Bornilla describes her fashionable line of swimwear which was launched recently. "Since my target is the young age group and the young at heart, playful colors should be observed. The vibe should be vigorous. It’s like when you see my creation, it’s seems like its targeting those people who are young and people aspiring to remain youthful," said Nadine, a former Miss Philippine Youth titlist. Nadine, a Grade 10 student of Colegio San Agustin in Makati City, expounds the design concepts for SimoneSwimwear. For cutouts, it is mainly a version of the killer one-pieces that are coming out for spring and summer 2019. The options are encompassing and it makes me more inventive. Villar leads groundbreaking of Wetland Center

Sen. Cynthia Villar led the groundbreaking ceremonies which sets into motion the construction of the Wetland Center at the Las Pinas-Paranaque Wetland Park. The groundbreaking also marks World Wetlands Day, an annual celebration held on February 2 to commemorate the day the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands was adopted in 1971. This year’s theme is Wetlands and Climate Change. “It is only fitting that we mark this special day with the groundbreaking for the facility that will make visiting the Las Pinas-Paranaque Wetland Park, the only Ramsar site in the country situated in an urban setting, more convenient and educational,” Villar said. The wetland center, which is a donation from the Villar Family, will house a restaurant, a training center, a museum, a souvenir shop and a satellite office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). A homecoming fit for a queen awaits Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray when she returns to Manila on Feb. 20, pageant organizers announced Feb. 1. Alongside her Binibining Pilipinas family, Gray will hold activities with select media and VIP guests, and participate in charitable activities with the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. Chair Mrs. Stella Marquez Araneta. One of the highlights of Gray’s return to the Philippines will be the Grand Homecoming Parade that will provide fans and all Filipinos the chance to see and support Miss Universe through their attendance. The Grand Parade will take the fourth Filipina Miss Universe to the streets of Manila and Makati on Feb. 21. Catriona will again be welcomed with a homecoming parade at the Araneta Center on Feb. 23. Villar welcomes farmers to rice seeds production training

Sen. Cynthia Villar led the opening of the training course on rice farm mechanization and inbred and rice seeds production at the Villar SIPAG Farm School in Bacoor, Cavite on Feb. 4. Villar, chair of the Committee on Agriculture and Food, said training the farmers how to mechanize farming practices and to produce certified inbred seeds will address the need to lower the production cost of growing palay. “Through this training program, we are preparing our farmers to switch to the modern way of farming and help them to be able to compete against imported rice which will start coming in as a result of the expiration of the Quantitative Restriction on Rice, prescribed by WTO,” Villar said.  VILLAR HELPS BOOST RICE PRODUCTION.  Sen. Thirty stunning and statuesque male and female models from all over the country will compete for the coveted title which intends to produce top image, print, fashion, runway and commercial models. Leading to the finals night, a series of activities were held, there were workshops on Basic and Advanced Modelling, Fashion/Ramp Code of Ethics, Photographic Modelling, Runway, Health and Wellness, & Grooming/Hair and Make-Up; swimwear competition in Punta Riviera, Bolinao, Pangasinan; and photo shoots at several locations. A 20-year-old student who vows to campaign against bullying and depression has been crowned Miss Philippine Youth International 2019. Rikki Mae Abuel dela Pena, who studies at the University of Asia and the Pacific in Pasig City, said that she wants to bridge the experts and fellow millennials who have been victimized by bullying, depression and body-shaming. "I want to build this community where I can bridge the experts and the victims of bullying, depression and body-shaming," said Dela Pena during a victory press conference held at a hotel in Quezon City recently. Dela Pena said that she is also passionate about building relationships with other people through charity works. Just recently, she created her fund-raising page for World Vision Organization which aims to support the educational programs in the country.
