50th Mutya ng Pilipinas honors Filipino fashion designers



Mutya ng Pilipinas Inc. President Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo paid tribute to the country's fashion designers who all made the national pageant a success for the past 50 years.

"I would like to extend my warmest appreciation and firm respect to all our fashion designers, whom have helped us year after year for the past 50 years," says Escudero during swimsuit and evening gown competitions held at Ascott BGC in Taguig City Sept. 10.


Winners of sponsors awards were Sharifa Akeel, Mutya ng ZANEA SHOES; Honey Grace Cartasano, Mutya ng Hannah's Beach Resort & Convention Center; Pauline Amelinckx, Mutya ng Mags; Nina Ancheta, Mutya ng Mags 1st RU; Kesha Ramachandran, Mutya ng Mags 2nd RU; and Anie Uson, Mutya ng Rain or Shine.

"Mutya Ng Pilipinas has always been magnificent because you have shared your talent and brilliant creations to us. Our Long Gown Competition wouldn’t be as grand without your exquisite creations," Escudero adds.

Other officials of the Mutya Ng Pilipinas Inc. are Atty. DK Tumangan, Jose Soberano, Joseph Tan; Chairman Frederick Yuson; and National Search chair Mags Cue.

Sharifa Akeel of Sultan Kudarat won Best In Evening Gown. First runner-up was Nina Ancheta, Los Angeles, California; and Kesha Ramachandran, Iloilo, 2nd runner-up.

Nina Ancheta, Los Angeles, California, was named Best In Swimsuit. First runner-up was Kristine Malicsi of Navotas; and Ebony Bangit of Melbourne, 2nd runner-up. The swimwear was created by DR SWIM by Domz Ramos.
