Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo opens up about her love of painting

Former Mutya ng Pilipinas President Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo was preparing to make a comeback in the pageant world until the COVID-19 pandemic got in the way. "I miss the pageant world. Actually we had talks of producing a new pageant late this year pero hold muna (because of the health crisis). We will see," said Hemilyn in an exclusive online interview. Hemilyn has been keeping herself busy during the COVID-19 lockdown and opened up about her love of painting. This may come as a surprise to many people that this brilliant woman has been painting since early 2000s. "One of my early paintings is a 3x4 impasto modern landscape. It's the first painting I sold either in 2013 or 2014. It's not that expensive. What matters is that they appreciate your work. Happy na ako noon," she said. Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo gets busy at Yale University

You are never too busy to continue your education. This after former Mutya ng Pilipinas President Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo enrolled at the prestigious Yale University in Connecticut, USA to further her studies in the field of arts. Based on her social media posts, Hemilyn is enjoying her studies at the Ivy League school although she misses her family so much.  "It's difficult because you are far away from your family and love ones. But this is really one of my goals - to pursue more studies in arts," said Hemilyn during an exclusive online chat. As an amateur artist, Hemilyn has already sold some of her works.  Hemilyn became a bonafide member of United Women’s Artists Association of the Philippines, a group of professional women having common interests towards the arts.  She has joined several art exhibits, the most recent of which was the event dubbed "Arts South Festival" held at Filinvest in Alabang, Muntinlupa in March. 'Mutya' president Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo resigns

Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo announced last Jan. 4 that she has resigned as president of the Mutya ng Pilipinas beauty pageant, one of the most enduring and prestigious national beauty contests in the country. In a statement sent to media friends, Hemilyn said: "Maraming maraming salamat po sa lahat ng tulong at pagmamahal na binigay nyo sa Mutya Ng Pilipinas at sa akin especially during our 50th anniversary celebration; "It is with a heavy heart though that I have recently tendered my resignation as President. Sana po ay manatili ang malalim nating pagkakaibigan. Salamat sa pag turing ninyong kapamilya sa akin. Salamat po ulit and God Bless," she said. Hemilyn did not give any reason for her resignation. On July 20, 2017, Hemilyn was appointed as the newest president of the Mutya ng PIlipinas beauty contest. A student of the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City was crowned Dream Girl of the Year International 2018 during the Miss Tourism International 2018 pageant held in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia recently. Julieane Aya Fernandez was one of the five major winners in the beauty contest dubbed the "holiday pageant" because the Miss Tourism International contest is usually staged around the holiday season. Other winners were: Astari Vernideani of Indonesia, Miss Tourism International; Sarah Pkyach of Kenya; Miss Tourism Metropolitan International; Sandra Callahan, Australia, Miss Tourism Global; and Laura Skutane, Latvia, Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International. Host delegate Caenne Ng of Malaysia won the special title of Miss Southeast Asia Tourism Ambassadress. Mutya ng Pilipinas president Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo says peace of mind and having a baby girl are some of her birthday wishes as she turns a year older today, Nov. 27. “My birthday wishes are good health for myself and for my family, more blessings and peace of mind, and a baby girl,” says Hemilyn during an exclusive interview on her advance birthday celebration held at the Four Seasons Buffet and Hotpot at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City last Sunday, Nov. 25. She adds: “Also, I want to keep all the friends that I have now. Wala na akong mahihiling pa. Peace of mind na lang talaga. Residents of Lebak in Sultan Kudarat cheered as the motorcade of newly crowned Miss Asia Pacific International Sharifa Akeel made its way along the roads of this coastal municipality in Mindanao on October 21. This was the first time that the new Filipino beauty queen came to her hometown after winning an international crown last Oct. 5. Prior to that, Sharifa earned the right to represent the Philippines in the international competition when she won Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific 2018 last Sept. 16. Mutya ng Pilipinas President Hemilyn Escudero Tamayo has expressed support to Binibini Eva Psychee Patalinjug who is currently competing at the Miss Grand International 2018 beauty pageant in Myanmar. A Muslim woman was among the five major winners of the 50th Mutya ng Pilipinas beauty pageant held at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Pasay City September 16. Filipino-Qatari Sharifa Akeel, 21, of Sultan Kudarat, was named Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia-Pacific International title in the pageant that promotes "beauty tourism." Fifty lovely Filipinas who embody the new age of beauty queens fit for today's world were presented as official candidates of Mutya ng Pilipinas 2018 beauty during a special show held at Ascott Hotel in Makati City September 3.
