2018 Bb. Pilipinas candidates make first public appearance

Days after their official numbers were assigned, the 40 candidates of the 2018 Bb. Pilipinas beauty pageant made their first public appearance at the Gateway Mall in Cubao, Quezon City recently.

In their comfy white shirts and jeans, the girls waved to their fans on their way to the art gallery located at the 5th level of the popular mall.

Later, the candidates explored the latest cultural destination in Quezon City which spans 735 square meters of prime space dedicated to the exhibition and appreciation of art and history.

The gallery, which can fit almost 600 people, consists of a main exhibition hall and a smaller secondary exhibit area that easily converts into an events room ideal for drawing/painting sessions, artist talks or film screenings.

"Sining Saysay: Philippine History in Art" is a milestone exhibit that depicts Philippine history in 30 large history and thematic paintings.

A product of a five-year collaboration among University of the Philippines, the UP Alumni Association and the Araneta Center, it is a breathtaking visual chronicle of a country’s struggles and triumphs from pre-history to the present era.

Twenty-seven UP College of Fine Arts alumni worked together to visually interpret a particular segment or theme from the country’s entire history.

The participating artists include: Abdulmari Asia Imao (National Artist), Grace Javier Alfonso, Don Artificio, Armand Bacaltos, Pablo Baen Santos, Grandier Bella, Benjie Cabangis, Angel Cacnio, Romeo Carlos, Cris Cruz, Denes Dasco, Gig de Pio, Simkin de Pio, Vincent de Pio, Neil Doloricon, Norman Dreo, Amado Hidalgo, Ben Infante, Junyee, Aileen Lanuza, Romeo Mananquil, Norlito Meimban, Jonahmar Salvosa, Julius Samson, Randy Solon, Michael Velasco and Janice Young. - ROBERT REQUINTINA
