The Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. announced on March 1 that the annual search for Bb. Pilipinas 2019 has started.

This the first time in recent years that the annual search began in March unlike in the previous years when the prestigious national contest usually begins in December.

Organizers said that deadline for submission of application forms is on March 15. Just visit http://www.bbpilipinas.com for details.

The grand coronation of the Bb. Pilipinas 2019 pageant will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City in June.

Now on its 55th year, the Bb. Pilipinas pageant currently sends delegates to international pageants such as Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Supranational, Miss Intercontinental, Miss Grand International; and Miss Globe.

Of the current batch of title holders, Catriona Gray won 2018 Miss Universe in Bangkok, Thailand; and Karen Gallman was crowned Miss Intercontinental 2018 during a pageant held in Manila. It was the first pageant title for the Philippines in 47 years.

Other stellar performances were Athisa Manalo, 1st runner-up, Miss International; Jehza Mae Huellar, Top 10, Miss Supranational; and Michelle Gumabao, Top 15, Miss Globe.

Pageant organizers earlier hinted at the start of the national search after a photo of personalities involved in the contest surfaced on the Internet. These personalities are Jojo Bragais, official shoes supplier; Domz Ramos, official swimwear designer; Raymond Saldana, official photographer; and Gines Enriquez, of the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc.

The Bb. Pilipinas has also produced three other Miss Universe - Gloria Diaz (1969), Margarita Moran, (1973) and Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach (2015).

Five Binibinis have won Miss International:  Aurora Pijuan (1970), Melanie Marquez (1979), Precious Lara Quigaman (2005), Bea Santiago (2013) and Kylie Verzosa (2016).

Other international titleholders were: Miss Globe International 2001 Maricar Balagtas; Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Johanna Datul; and Miss Globe 2015 Ann Colis. - ROBERT REQUINTINA

Sharon Cuneta slams noisy condo construction

Megastar Sharon Cuneta has complained about the construction of her neighbor's condominium unit, saying that it brought stress to her family.
