Cynthia Villar tops latest Pulse Asia Senate survey

Two weeks before the elections, re-electionist Cynthia Villar is now the leading senatorial candidate based on the latest survey conducted by Pulse Asia. Villar vows to work harder if she wins the national elections once again as she thanks her supporters in her fresh Senate bid. Twenty-eight girls will vie for the first Bikining Pilipinas 2019 beauty pageant which will be held at The Island, Uptown Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City on Wednesday, May 1. Victor G. Naynes, president and CEO of RV International Talent Management, said that the contest is similar to the popular American lingerie show know as Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. "The Bikining Pilipinas girls is similar to the American lingerie fashion show but our girls will wear elaborate costumes built around swimsuits not underwear," said Naynes. Villar: Wetland center to educate youth on conservation

Sen. Cynthia Villar has announced the rise of a wetland center that will help educate students on the importance of wetland and wildlife conservation. During the photo exhibit showcasing the work of wild bird photographer Ed Santos at Solaire in Paranaque, Villar said a wetland center will be built at the Las Pinas-Paranaque Wetland Park before the end of the year. “Soon, our students will have another reason to frequent the park, not only for clean up and tree-planting activities, they will also have the wetland center to help them understand more why wetlands are important,” Villar said. The chairperson of the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources also stressed that the conservation of wetlands like the Las Pinas-Paranaque Wetland Park, is a strategy to mitigate the effects of climate change. “For one, natural features of wetlands such as mangrove trees serve as barriers that protect communities against storm surges and flooding,” Villar added. Movie and television personality Kris Aquino said she is having second thoughts about pursuing a career in politics, saying she is unfit to run because of her health. "What I have is not curable. I have accepted that. It has no cure. You have to deal with all the symptoms and you can deal with everything that goes with it," said Kris, during a press conference in support of the candidacy of Sen. Bam Aquino who is seeking Senate re-election during a press conference held in Quezon City April 22.  Timi Aquino, wife of Bam, also expressed the candidacy of her husband. Villar: Have an emergency plan for disasters

Re-electionist Senator Cynthia Villar has urged the public to have their own emergency plans in the event of disasters. Following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake in Zambales and the 6.5 magnitude earthquake in Eastern Samar, Villar said each household should devise their own emergency procedure “which family members should know by heart and implemented in the event of natural and man-made emergencies.” “Our family emergency plan should supplement our government’s disaster- preparedness program. We cannot depend on the rescuers to immediately come to our aid when disaster strikes. We should be ready to help ourselves and our family members to be safe,” Villar said. To beat the effects of El Nino and the changing climate, Re-electionist Senator Cynthia Villar urged farmers to be climate-smart. “Our farmers will have better chances of beating El Nino and the effects of climate change if they are educated on the actions to be taken in order to avoid agricultural losses,” Villar said. Villar, chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture and Food, made this statement following a report by the Department of Agriculture saying that the damage to rice and corn crops due to El Nino has reached P5.7 billion. Villar said training programs such as the Climate-Smart Farm Business School are offered by  the Agricultural Training Institute and farm schools nationwide to help farmers build resilience in the face of a changing climate. A Filipino-Belgian was crowned Face of Tourism Philippines 2019 during a pageant held at the SMX Convention Center at the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City last April 7. Roxanne A. Baeyens, 22, from Baguio City edged out 14 other girls in the tourism-driven national pageant. She will later represent the Philippines in the Miss Tourism Culture Universe 2019 pageant in Myanmar later this year. The search for the new "Darna" continues with Yen Santos, one of the stars of the hit Kapamila primetime series "Halik", being quizzed by entertainment media recently if she would be interested to play the iconic role if offered to her.  "Ay! Villar urges agricultural towns to open agri farm schools

Re-electionist Senator Cynthia Villar urged local leaders of agricultural towns all over the country to help their farmers to become more competitive with the opening of farm schools. In her recent visit to Carranglan, Nueva Ecija for the 10 th  Gintong Butil Festival, Villar urged Mayor Mary Abad to encourage farm owners in their locality to convert their farms into learning sites. “These farm schools will help farmers to learn for free modern ways of farming that will enable them to increase productivity and incomes and reducing their production cost,” Villar said.
