Holy Week not for beach, trips - Ai Ai delas Alas

Comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas has said that Holy Week is a time to pray and not for beach or trips.

Delas Alas, 52, made the gentle reminder to the faithful in a recent post on Instagram.

She posted: "Holy Week is not for beach escapades, parties, trips, vacations. It is a time to pray. Visit the nearest Catholic church near you."

Delas Alas, who is engaged to get married to Gerald Sibayan in 2018, also posted a video of the annual pabasa which she organizes every year.

"Pabasa" or "pasyon" is the uninterrupted chanting of the  life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is usually done from Holy Monday until Maundy Thursday.

The Kapuso star is a papal awardee who received the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice (For the Church and Pope).

Bishop Antonio Tobias has said that the papal medal of delas Alas is the highest medal awarded to the laity by the Pope. - ROBERT R. REQUINTINA
