Parade of Beauties thrills but the queens are missing

Pageant fans screamed and cheered for their favorite candidates of this year's batch of Binibining Pilipinas beauty contest during the annual Parade of Beauties at the Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City last Saturday.

Each of the 40 candidates rode a convertible in their colorful and stylish swimsuits designed by Domz Ramos as they waved to fans when they made the rounds of the popular commercial complex.

The Parade of Beauties kicked off in front of the Kia Theater and wound down at the Gateway Pavilion where a stage was set up for the quick presentation of the candidates.

Cameras clicked while others clapped when the parade passed by the crowded areas of pageant fanatics.

But well-wishers were disappointed when they did not see the reigning queens.

The reigning queens are Miss Universe Philippines Maxine Medina, Miss International Kylie Versoza, Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental Jennifer Hammond, Bb. Pilipinas Supranational Joanna Eden, Bb. Pilipinas Grand International Nicole Cordovez, and Bb. Pilipinas Globe Nichole Manalo.

It was the first time that the reigning queens of Binibining Pilipinas did not take part in the annual parade.

Nevertheless, the missing reigning queens did not dampen the spirits of pageant fans who were thrilled to see their favorite girls during the swimsuit motorcade.

The grand coronation night will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City on Sunday, April 30.
