So how did Senyor Kumparde Restaurant come to this?

In 1965, a Spanish merchant and engineer named Alejandro Cristobal, started trading goods such as coconuts, and coal with Filipino businesswoman Pilar Santiago.

Since then the two became good friends and continued doing business for the next five years. Eventually, in time, the two fell in love.

Alejandro moved out of Spain, lived in the Philippines and married Pilar. Soon after having children in 1979, the couple started a new venture in 1980, Senyor Kumpadre, a traditional Filipino with a hint of Spanish influence family restaurant.

Being a loving, responsible father, and a good provide for his children, Pilar named the restaurant as such, in reference to her husband, Alejandro.

His kasambahay call him Senyor, and Kumparde by his friends and colleagues, and clients. Thus, the name Senyor Kumpadre. - ROBERT REQUINTINA
