ICATS soaring high on its 7th year

The International Cabin Attendant Training School (ICATS) celebrated its 7th founding anniversary this year as it proudly conquers the skies and the world anew amid challenges in the future.

"It is both a privilege and honor to witness the milestone. Indeed, it is truly a dream come true for me, a journey that led to many more fulfilled dreams," said Princess Joy Garcia, CEO and co-founder of ICATS during a press conference held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Pasig City recently.

"As we celebrate this milestone, we will continue to shine and commit ourselves to professional excellence and leadership, all while remaining grounded on our best teaching practices and positivity-building philosophies," said Garcia.

ICATS is a 30-day intense course designed to meet flight attendant training standards of international airlines. Aside from Garcia, it was established by Arthuro de Leon and the late Armie Guiao in 2009.

In 2010, ICATS launched its first batch with only three enrollees.

But the ICATS team was not discouraged. The rapid increase of enrollees in 2014 required ICATS to transfer to a bigger venue with more classrooms.

"Becoming a flight attendant has been a dream for me which never came true. Though this dream did not happen, God has a way of opening up new skies for me and that is to set up a flight attendant training school at its excellence," said Garcia.

"Dreams become a reality at ICATS. Through ICATS, I was able to allow others to fulfill their own dreams. It always touches my heart and makes me proud to see the trainees transform into a real flight attendant ready to show the world what true Filipino hospitality and professionalism is all about," she said.

To date, ICATS has provided the hospitality airline industry with more than 200 highly trained graduates who now hold vital positions in prestigious local and international commercial airlines such as Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Oman Air, Fly Nas, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Air Asia, etc.

The ICATS 7th anniversary was marked with special events that included community giving and volunteer activities.

Led by Garcia, the ICATS family conducted a series of outreach visitations in seven charity institutions - Precious Heritage Children's Home, Tahanang Balik Alay, Home for the Golden Gays, Creative Milestone Learning Center, Children's Home of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Children's Home of Eucharistic Love and Kindness, and Margaretha Home for the Blind.

It was followed by a Dedication and Worship Service held at the ICATS campus in Tektite Building, Ortigas Center last April 5.

A blood-letting donation conducted in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross was also held last April 6.

It was capped with the ICATS 7th founding anniversary grand gala night with the theme "Rejoicing Years of Passion, Advancing the Mission" held at the Crowne Plaza hotel last April 7.

The ICATS founding family reconnected with students, faculty, partners and former graduates.

Other highlights of the event were the launch of the ICATS Alumni Association, Inc.and oath-taking of officers who will be the school's partners in various post-graduate services like job placement assistance program.

"The next chapter of ICATS' history will be the most challenging and most exciting chapter yet. The school will continue to serve others and become a vessel of hope, especially to the young ones who are brimming with dreams to see the world," Garcia added.

"Soar higher with us. Let your dreams to see the world start at ICATS and allow ICATS to help you conquer the skies. For the past few years, we were able to fulfill the dreams of youths who want a better life for themselves and their families. With a ‘Bigger, Better, and Bolder’ ICATS, we want to fulfill more dreams, change more lives, and give more opportunities, because ICATS true success lies in the success of each and every ICATS graduate!" she said.

ICATS is located at 907-A East Tower, Philippine Stock Exchange Center, Exchange Road, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
