Bb Pilipinas fetes Miss Intercontinental Karen Gallman
The Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. led by its chair Stella Marquez Araneta feted newly crowned Miss Intercontinental Karen Gallman after she won the international crown which has been elusive for the Philippines for 47 years.
Gallman's victory now joins the league of Filipino beauty queens for the longest gap of winning an international pageant crown. Aside from the Miss Intercontinental title, it took 42 year for the Philippines to capture the Miss Universe title the third time after Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach won in 2015. Megan Lynne Young won the Miss World crown for Philippines after 61 years in 2013.
"To my Binibining Pilipinas family, thank you everyone for the love and support that you poured out for me. And to my supporters , I love you guys and I really appreciate all that you have done for me. I love you all," said Gallman during an exclusive interview at Thanksgiving Dinner at Bahay Na Puti (White House) mansion in Cubao, Quezon City recently.

Now that she is Miss Intercontinental, Gallman said that she has to make some sacrifice as she fulfills her duties and responsibilities during her reign.
"Even in Bb. Pilipinas, I have to sacrifice my job behind in London as a financial analyst. I have to sacrifice my family and fiance. I’m gonna leave them behind because I will be based here. I have options to stay in Germany or Spain but I opted to stay here," she said.
Rodgil Flores, of Kagandahang Flores (KF) beauty camp, the group that trained Gallman for the international pageant, said that the victory of Filipino-Australian beauty queen continued to raise the bar of candidates competing in pageants.
"I am elated. Very happy. The Miss Intercontinental crown is one crown that we haven’t won for so long. It’s a great honor that a KF queen achieved that fete," Flores said.
The pageant guru added: "We’ve reached the level that pageants are so difficult these days. So you have to put everything to it - your mind, heart, everything."
Asked for advice to girls who wanted to join Bb. Pilipinas, Flores said: "To those who want to join, put everything to it. It’s not like they want it. They have to prove that they really want it. You really have to work hard for it."
Stella Marquez Araneta, and her husband Jorge Araneta, President and CEO, Araneta Group, led the simple celebration for Gallma's victory at their mansion.
When asked about the date for the search for the annual Bb. Pilipinas pageant, the power couple responded to the question with a bright smile.
But sources said that it won't be long until the BPCI announces the search for the prestigious national pageant which sends delegates to Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Supranational, Miss Grand International, Miss Intercontinental, and Miss Globe pageants.
Aside from Gallman, other reigning BInibini queens who gave stellar performances in pageants abroad were Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray; Ma. Athisa Manalo, 1st runner-up, Miss International; Jehza Mae Huelar, Top 10, Miss Supranational; and Michele Theresa Gumabao, Top 15, Miss Globe.
