The Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. led by its chair Stella Marquez Araneta feted newly crowned Miss Intercontinental Karen Gallman after she won the international crown which has been elusive for the Philippines for 47 years. Gallman's victory now joins the league of Filipino beauty queens for the longest gap of winning an international pageant crown. Aside from the Miss Intercontinental title, it took 42 year for the Philippines to capture the Miss Universe title the third time after Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach won in 2015. Megan Lynne Young won the Miss World crown for Philippines after 61 years in 2013. "To my Binibining Pilipinas family, thank you everyone for the love and support that you poured out for me. On Instagram, Gallman said: "I’m so proud to bring our nation its first Intercontinental crown. Katarina Rodriguez to give up Bb Pilipinas 2017 crown?

Two days after she was crowned Bb Pilipinas Intercontinental 2017, Katarina Rodriguez reportedly told organizers of the prestigious local beauty pageant that she was giving up her crown for still unknown reasons. "Katarina Rodriguez has expressed that she may not accept the crown," according to a reliable source from the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc., organizers of the annual beauty contest. The same source said that "the BPCI is awaiting for a formal letter of resignation until today, May 2." No other details were given. But there were two versions as to why Rodriguez would reportedly give up her crown. Unconfirmed reports said that Rodriguez was not happy with the Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental title because "it is a minor title." Another unverified report said that Rodriguez has citizenship issue. Charmaine Elima who won 1st runner-up may assume the Bb.
